Considering what's being bandied about in the media, it seems like the ask is a quality, near-NHL ready D prospect and a high pick (Timmins is often mentioned). Further, you can look at Stone's trade last year as a pretty solid framework where they sent Brannstrom, a 2nd and a guy no longer in the NHL.

Out of genuine curiosity, what level of return are you expecting?

I'd ask your boys to be gentle, but I know there are only two settings for them: absolute dominance or failure to finish. Knowing our luck, we'll see the former tonight.

You're 100% correct.

It's either everything goes in or literally nothing works.

Considering multiple sources have stated the devils could be looking up to 4 pieces I have no idea what you are speaking of.

Also Ray Shero is not Pierre Dorrion so although the framework my be similar it isnt impossible at all to imagine Shero getting more then Dorion did.

Most importantly though there will be packages offered that either have a first or a top prospect. That proposal had neither ....

I'd definitely advise taking the under on that one, but I guess it's possible. Gonna be curious to follow.

I certainly agree that a 1st would have to be involved. His reaction just made it seem like it was more than a switch of the 2nd to a guaranteed 1st away from being in the ballpark. Based off your statement though, it would seem even that would be shy for your tastes.

I guess that depends. Im still in wait and see mode but I was getting the vibe that you were suggesting a d man (who likely only is a top 6 ) and a 2nd will get it done.

It would come as a total shock to me if Jones was considered to be even close the prospect Brannstrom is pegged to be.

I have heard multiple sources state 4, a couple say less and some have said Ray is even open to 1 for 1. That kind of suggest to me he is looking for the best asset he can get.

If he where to land a 1 for 1 deal I would have to imagine that player would be more valuable then Jones and the proposed 2nd/ conditional first.

I'm just sad I'm not going to any of the games on the western canada swing this year. First time in nearly a decade.

Congratulations on all of the above.

Though admittedly, I am somewhat concerned that you’ve begun to breed.

With that particular comment, it feels like you may be underselling Jones unless you feel similarly about Timmins. The rest I can agree with. For the Jones package to equal the Brannstrom one, the 1st would need to be a guaranteed 1st and they'd need to include someone like Khaira (to match the Lindberg piece).

It's nonsensical to try and make moves for immediate gains now, especially moves that would put them straight back in cap hell that they're so close to escaping from. As long as RNH is willing to resign, everyone who matters is going to be locked up for a while. McDavid and Draisaitl are still going to be superstars next year, and the year after, and the year after...

You're right, the NHL playoffs are a crapshoot. But that works both ways. The Oilers could go all in this year, only to get swept. Why not play the long game and set the team up to be fighting for the division title for the next five or six years, especially when they've already gone through the rough patches.

The Flames tried to skip a step and take advantage of their window by giving Neal way too much money, and now they're pretty much boned because of that and will continue to be just short of an elite team.

We have a secret weapon !!!! Bill Peters is going to be taking on the Joey Moss role for the Canes... he's going to bully them into submission.

He would be nice but I fear the asking price might be too much. I wouldnt be opposed to Lewis and Toffoli (depending on the price).
