That was a great game to watch and a huge statement game for the Flames. This team is starting to look like the team we had last season.

But man, MacKinnon is fast. I'm pretty confident only McDavid beats him in the speed department. That guy is one Hell of a player.

When he isn’t pouting he sure takes the game overThe flames and I guess every other team in the league can’t really stop him.

LA has gotta be thinking full rebuild.

What would it take to get Kopitar (10 million/year till 2023-24)?

Monahan and Brodie might get it done cash wise just for Kopitar add in picks/prospects where necesary. Brodie can be flipped at TDL or they can hold onto him as LA does not spend a lot of money on defence besides Dowdy. Monahan is a serviceable 1C for a rebuilding team on a cheap contract. Kopitar has a lot more years left at 10 million so I cannot see a lot of teams wanting to take him on. By the time he is in steady decline we will be in rebuild mode.

We need at 1C and Kopitar would fill that void.

Edit #10:

Why not try and add Toffoli and make a run. I am not a GM but you gotta think that Tre needs to make a gamble at some point.

Tkachuk-Kopitar-Dube/Mange
JG-Lindholm-Toffoli
Looch-Ryan-Dube/Mange
Czarnik-Rinaldo-Gawdin

I somehow traded Bennett, our first, (maybe Phillips if necesary) and Frolik for an extended Toffoli. Then I traded Backlund for a pick and a serviceable 3D to play with Kylington.

This is a team that has a lot more Grit and has a scoring threat on each line.

Wow I fricken love it!!!
As I mentioned in my earlier post how much I’d really love to see a much deserved win against those Avs and that’s exactly what we got entertained with!!
Not only did their confidence jump up to a whole’notha level from what they’ve already started these last couple weeks but now they’ve got that “Swag” back that the Avs stole from them last spring...
LOVE IT!!!!!😉

Time will tell without peters, its amazing how slow the flames get out of the gate in oct and nov really now its dec like last year decide its time to turn it up.

As for trading away players, yes frolik isn't a good fit anymore, as for bennet give him some more time with luck the phone will ring but with his wage he is a good fit, dube should stay up for sure last year he almost did.

I think the oilers are seeing us in the rearview while they calm down and slow down proving they are not top tier, I LOVE IT! As for the real deal james neal and milan trade, seems to balance out nicely I think. Scored or not lucic has flame fans enjoying him hit others and don't miss neal at all.

Today Lindholm on roster (and you don't wanna know who i all benched for him...), now show me the promised pp-goal or Ecuador will be converted to Monkey Island.

Maybe that's why Backlund is playing with him right now. Hopefully Mony can pick up a few things.

Exactly guys like MacKinnon Bergeron o Riley took years to get to the super stardom they are give Monahan a break he is not as good of course but you cant replace what he brings for the money he makes and he just might be in same talk as those other guys in a year or so,that said I think it would be foolish to move him

I am not trying to poop on Monahan. He is what he is.

Besides last night (realistically since all star break last year), the only time I can actually remember mentioning the guys name in a positive light is when he laid a couple hits.

Peters might have been part of the problem with his play but lets call a spade a spade.

On the positive Monahan has good finish and decent speed. He has managed to improve on the playoff dot and has managed to develop a better 2 way game.

But on the flip side he is soft. does not drive play and will never be a defensive stalwart.

The window for the Flames to win is open for a couple more years and I am hoping these guys prove me wrong in saying that we are still a legit 1C and a top 6 RW away from being a true contender.

Monahan was drafted the same year as McKinnon
Edit He’s also scored more goal than McKinnon.

Monahan has scored more goals by a slight margin compared to MacKinnon but you look at totals compared to both and MacKinnon is far ahead and has played less games.

Regular Season Totals
MacKinnon 486 GP, G 174, A 275 Total: 449
Monahan 503 GP, G 181, A 207 Total 388

McKinnon is elite and Monahan is adequate, he can't make players better around him because he's not a true # 1 Centre.

What a horsepoop (frank)ing call. Stepan better have a target on his back the rest of this (frank)ing game. Throws a hissy fit and gets rewarded by taking our #1 centre off the powerplay. (frank)ing garbage.

Pretty impressive back to back after a hard fought overtime game. Is a trade imminent with everyone playing so good? Where does Benny and Czarnik fit?
