Bogosian moved 3 guys out from in front of the net the other night

.....He had to, because he turned the puck over twice which led to the Canucks sustained pressure

Pilut is good with the puck

- sbroads24

So we are pro having our goalie screened so he cant see puck over guy who just cant clear the zone?

33 games 6 points -8

stat-line everyone wants

I find it odd he was listed 4-6 weeks for about 2-3 weeks and then had surgery.

I think they both understand he's not coming back

- sbroads24

I don't think we know the specifics of the injury. Do we? Any kind of tear and he's probably done for the season. Who knows.

Pilut was good in those 33 games

Bogosian has been bad here for 5 years

I don't know what else to say.

Yeah idk.

I'm busy trying to figure out why someone doesn't want Pilut here.

Oh wait because he isn't 6 foot 4. Because we've had so much success with all the big dudes

I can't believe it's been over 5 years

He has a whopping 12 goals over parts of 6 seasons here

No but they should've paid a team to take one of them.

Especially if it means that Asplund or Pilut etc can't become regulars because of cap ramifications

- sbroads24

Here's an idea.. do you happen to know where to find the chart that describes what a player is worth in wins over an 82 game season?

Then off of that, compare Bogo and Pilut. If there's no Pilut, we can at least see how many non-wins (losses) Bogo is worth.

Would definitely help if it's current, because Scandella has found a lot of success next to Jokiharju this season.

I mean, you're both sorta right with the overall points you're trying to make here.

Larry Pilut is a physically weaker version of Brandon Montour. He's high event. He can move the puck well, but his actual ability to defend is lacking.

Overall, he is absolutely a larger net positive than Bogosian ever was. And yet, his 'impact' can be seen as, well... average at best. Still better than Bogosian, who's impact is generally negative.

IN the 5 years since the trade, his cumulative WAR is under 1

Pilut last year in just 33 games was .8 (almost 1 win)

Basically Pilut attributed to the same amount of WAR in 33 games as Bogo has in 5 years

Look, it's Bogo's, Sobotka's, Hunwick's, Sheary's and Scandella's poopty contracts going up in flames on July 1st.

(frank) sakes bud. I don't think I was looking for WAR stats.. there's a bar chart that shows how many wins a player is worth (not above replacement)

Bogo, 233 games, 1 win above replacement
Pilut, 33 games, 0.8 wins above replacement.

Means it will take Pilut 9 games or less (probably less based on development) to catch Bogo in cumulative.

Dahlin comes back soon ...... so they will need to send someone down soon or make some sort of move. They don’t have the roster spots.

yeah I'm definitely not using any particular chart to tell me if a player is good. Just wanted to look at it.

Bogo has failed the eye test for years now. Pilut made Mr. -40 look good.
