He also went right up to Giroux (I think) and had a short conversation his next shift. That nobody stepped up to him in the game makes me think everyone knows it was accidental.
- Scoob

Agreed. But now with the concussion diagnosis that might change things a little. We will see.

Do players with concussions usually get the indefinite timeline?

I think that's pretty standard now when it's first diagnosed. You never really know how long the systems will last until you start seeing some progress.

Not surprised. Looking at his face/eyes immediately after the hit I knew it was not good
- Scoob

I saw something else when he looked at the bench and shrugged like "Ugh have to go to the quiet room now".

EDIT: Personally I think TK misses 2-3 games for protocol reasons just to make sure symptoms are no longer there and he will be back in.

Is there a degree of concussion? Because that one TK took looks as bad as it can get. He could be out for a very long time with that one.
- Buzzo

Really? You've never seen a hockey player knocked out cold before and taken to the hospital on a stretcher?

How bout Rantanen and Mackinnon? Are they out?
- PLindbergh31

No. Neither are Couturier, Giroux or Voracek.

You have to remember that Borowiecki went straight off with a pretty good gash above his eye. That probably took at least a little steam out the Revenge Express. When he came back he was probably less apt to fight due to the stitches above his eye.

I am sure Borowiecki will have to answer for it in the next game. He seems like a guy that would drop the gloves. We will see.

- mickel25

Yeah, but answer to who? Maybe I'm wrong, but the Flyers don't have guys that will do retribution currently on their roster. Laughton is the closest to that, maybe Jake when he gets angry, but seriously - the Flyers have no one on their roster that will put fear in a player like Borowiecki. Won't happen.

The hit wasn't anywhere near a bad as a dozen hits that Rinaldo and Gudas laid as Flyers this decade. Quit whining about "retribution".

It was a bang-bang play. Borowiecki didn't stop and think, "Okay, should I make this hit because they have Chris Stewart in the lineup, or should I let him skate around me so that Chirs Stewart doesn't fight me? On the one hand, getting punched in the face 2 or 3 times wouldn't be fun, but it's only a few seconds and it's done. On the other hand, Chris Stewart is tough...I think, I mean he wasn't even in the NHL last year so I'm not sure...and I'd much rather not fight him if I can avoid it. "

It's a totally reactionary play and it gets made 10 times out of 10 regardless of who's on the other team. If you wanna lay blame anywhere on this team, blame it on the suicide pass.

Am I missing something? Are people really looking for someone to go after Borowiecki for the hit?

Only thing that matters is that cheap shot by Q-Tip. It's not like he just dropped his gloves and hugged him, he attacked another person from behind. Far as I'm concerned someone could baseball swing their stick and hit him in the teeth and I would call it even. This isn't a matter for the NHL DoPS, it is for the players to settle.

Oh, I agree. I was just stating that there will be No retribution or pay back. BTW, I don't think that I was "whining" about it.

I never said you were. I just don't think having a guy like Stewart in the lineup prevents the hit. As for "retribution" I don't care because it doesn't change the fact that TK is out.

The NHL always had the players police themselves. That doesn't happen as frequently as it used to. Boro didn't think but he should have. He needed to pay the price...and again some of the blame is TKs

It wasn't a head hit.

Their heads collided as a result of the hit, but it wasn't a head hit.

- Scoob

Yes, there's a rule against head butting, but pretty clearly this was not a head butt.

Rule 47 – Head-butting
47.1 Head-butting – The act of head-butting involves a player making
intentional contact, or attempting to make contact, with an opponent
by leading with his head and/or helmet.

He didn't think because it's going to happen regardless of who's on the ice. You don't think Bobby Clarke ever got hit during the Broad St. Bullies days? Sure he needed to fight a guy or 4 later on, but it didn't stop the hit.

If I can lay a hard hit on a star player and my punishment is that a man on skates is going to punch me 2-3 times and then we'll fall to the ice, sign me up!

I don’t think anyone here has been looking for the Borowiecki hit but I think there should be absolute Retribution on Tkachuk. The original bowl between the Sens and Flyers back in 2004 began with a cheap shot given out by Martin Havlet on Mark Recchi. We all know Mike Richards went right after Cooke right at the drop of the first faceoff against the Penguins in 2009 (I think). It’s always been this way and I’m sure it’s on the mind of the Flyers. Remember, an attack on one is an attack on all of us.

I agree.

It's a physical game. It was a hard, pretty clean hit (are any hits today perfectly clean?) that had a bad outcome. It's going to happen. It sucks, but it happens.

Concussion is basically a bruised brain. The actual damage is from the brain rattaling against the skull
- xShoot4WarAmpsx

yup, and my brain definitely sloshed on the play. i was speaking in tongues according to my friends

Not saying it's not a good sign but PCS symptoms are often delayed if I'm not mistaken. Hopefully he goes through the protocol and is back ASAP.

On another note and switching gears. That Frisco-NO football game was wild. Not a fan of them but the Pats got screwed by the officiating last night.

- MJL

terrible call and NE screwed themselves by not having any reviews. NFL officiating has to be the worse in all sports

I thought the hit was late as was the "retribution" hit by Laughton.
