This is pure retrospective fallacy and fantasy. many of these deals were dictated by cap constraints, TDL deals for another cup run that went bust, and non fits...period end of story...lamenting these speculative "what ifs" is a fools errand and pointless
leddy?? come'on gone 5 years now...he has been ok and got his big $$'s from the isles and won nothing...hawks were not and could not give him 5 mil per for 6 years... - bogiedoc
Lots of excuses on Cap related trades - other teams have faced the same.
It’s increasingly difficult to defend Bowman & this lineup
He’s all in on the aging core & the sooner they start rebuilding the better.
I question his feel for the sport
- trades- hiring of Jeremy & the ugly contracts that never made sense.
Bowman is the definition of insanity- do the same & hope for different results
If nothing gives we will all be having this same conversation next year & the year after that!
It’s time to move on. |

It's not of popular opinion, but I could see the Hawks trading Strome and DeBrincat. ADB is at his most valued when the team has speed and grease around him and he can do what he does best in the O zone.
Strome sees the play well on offense but his lack of skating, defense and physicality do not scream "sign me as a second line C" at $6mm + per year. - phantasmo
A good 3C will still get $6... |

Toews and Kane should have been closer to $9+/-, Seabrook 4 yrs max. Other than those three Stan has done well with contracts. Without 20/20 hindsight you would need a crystal ball to know when core was done. People still hate Jerry Krause for blowing up the Bulls. Fans are fans but Stan had a tough job to do with the hard cap. People forget one of those all in TDL's he brought Ladd back. Epstein the genius has not done as well as Stan.

This is all correct. I'd add that Stan had little choice on 88 & 19. The contract on Seabs was bad the day it was signed. |

Hinostroza would not make a difference on this team or the team last year. - nickmo2699
Should have kept Bufglylien and Ladd and let Kane and Toews go Stan's an idiot. |

Problem was they had the same agent and contracts ending in the same year. Kind of reverse anti trust. Tallon was waiting out there with deep pockets at that time. He would have gotten Stamkos had he not been already playing on the better Florida team. Shanahan did a great job playing hardball with Stamkos but he only had one guy to lose. We had two. Will never know what would have happened if Stan held to $9.0.

Picture of Montgomery on his twitter site. Wife and 4 little kids. Looks like a family man. Feel sorry for them all. Hope he learns by his mistake and lands on his feet.

I didn't think it was the year after the cup was why I said '12...

Here's something we can do when things get slow on this site, maybe around the Christmas break or when the Hawks have the week off in January.
We should all put together the ex-Black Hawk team. Need a roster of 13F, 7D and 2G. They must be all current players and need to conform to the 81.5M cap. |

Handzus>AA. Both big bodies and solid FO% but Zus was a physical force. Neither moved well but Zus had the killer instinct that AA didn’t. No fear when the going got tough. AA looked like a lil female dog if things weren’t going his way in big games. - Assman22
Loved Zus great when he won the ot game. Could use him in shootouts now deceptively slow, you think he must have shot by now but still not there!

I agree on Boqvist playing. It will be interesting to see if he plays 4 more games, because that will mean his ELC doesn't slide. If that happens, he may be staying all year. - mohel
