If they would've kept Frolik, would you give him up for Caufield? - mohel
I would find a way to keep both. |

LeBrun is saying it's unrelated to the new policy...betting on games? Who knows? Big mystery. |

Funny this happened after Bettman and the league announced that code of conduct yesterday. Dallas must have known something about Montgomery and axed him ahead of the league investigating the matter?

They're saying that NHL already knew and that it's unrelated.

That $40M + was negotiated by GM's other than Stan. Stan would have signed all those guys for at least $55M and thrown in a bunch of NMC's

So this is where we are now? Pining over former Blackhawks?
Panarin was always great, at best the Hawks would have kept him for 2 seasons then he’s gone. If that trade wasn’t made Chicago wouldn’t have Saad or Panarin this year (and they still would have missed the playoffs the previous 2 years).
Teravainen and Danault... ya, those were guys who could have stayed an been long term contributors. Not good moves by Stan.
Duclair? He was terrible in Chicago and Columbus afterwards, not to mention Arizona before that. I wouldn’t bet money on him playing consistently like this all season long.
Hinostroza... I like the guy, but 10 points in 32 games doesn’t classify as playing extremely well.
Oesterle - ok, but nothing special
Kempny has been good in Washington, but he never fit in Chicago
Schmaltz has done well but so has Strome. That deal was good for both clubs and players, I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
Jokiharju... not a fan of that trade but it’s still early, I’m not willing to pass judgement just yet.
Kahun - of all Stan’s moves this summer this is the only one I don’t like. Kahun is making the most of his opportunities now, good for him.
Leddy - the Hawks have their own version of him in Gustafsson.
Who’s next? Anisimov? Rutta? Hayden? Hartman? Panik? Perlini? Jurco? Motte? - DarthKane
Thank you!!!!!!!
Hinostroza would not make a difference on this team or the team last year. |

Nailed it! People pine of this too much. Every team has trades they win and lose. Not point in dwelling on the past. The only trades that you could argue were pointless were the Danault and Teravainen trades.
The Bickell situation was extremely unfortunate and even more so that his MS wasn't discovered until during the season after that. Could have retired a Hawk and we coulda kept TT as well (though who know's how he woulda done with Q still around).
Never understood the Danault trade from the second it was made. We needed a Defensemen and Stan went out and traded for two forwards and then Q never played them. That was a complete waste. These two deals could have reshaped this Hawks team as we know it know but it's hard to say exactly how with the cap ramifications not to mention if they would have developed the same way here under Q and still possibly JC.
I guess you could consider the Kahun trade as well, but with the deal was done because they needed to get better on Defense and the chances of resigning Kahun were slim. Plus they had an influx of forwards coming in. I don't think this was a bad move per-say, but I could be swayed that keeping Kahun and not trading for Shaw would make them a better overall team.
There's no point in going back over these things though. They're done and over with and we've all beat it dead already. What the Hawks need to do is figure out what needs to be done to fix the team now. Part of the issue is that we're stuck in the past, present, and talking about the future all at once instead of focusing on the here and now. |

So Hawks play tonight...
Will the board continue to spiral into darkness with another Hawks loss???
OR
Will the board become a place of hope and optimism with a Hawks win against a formidable opponent in the Golden Knights???
Stay tuned...in 12 hours we will find out..... |

My thought was maybe Montgomery was betting on games, so a natural next thought and I wasn't sure of the answer. |

I'm sure there's a rule against refs, players and coaches gambling on games. Doesn't mean some do it anyway.
Dallas has a 11 a.m. press conference to further discuss Montgomery's firing. Could be domestic violence, public intoxication, drug usage, sexual relationship, etc. Doubt if Dallas comes out and says exactly what happened. They'll probably stick to the "unprofessional conduct" line which just leads to further speculation.

Knights got blown out at home the other day by the Rangers 5-0. I would expect them to come out flying against the Hawks tonight.

Yes, he and any other involved parties have a right to privacy unless and until he is indicted on a criminal charge.

Sounds like Fleury is back after a sad week in which he lost his father. Expect that to give them an emotional boost, too. |

List of former Hawks playing extremely well right now:
Panarin
Teravainen
Danault
Kahun
DuClair
Hinostroza
Schmaltz
Kempny
Leddy
Jokiharju
Oesterle
If better decisions were made with these players we’d still be contending right now. Imagine a roster with all of that plus 19,88,2,12,etc...imagine all that speed and skill...ya never know what might have been... - SimpleJack
This is pure retrospective fallacy and fantasy. many of these deals were dictated by cap constraints, TDL deals for another cup run that went bust, and non fits...period end of story...lamenting these speculative "what ifs" is a fools errand and pointless
leddy?? come'on gone 5 years now...he has been ok and got his big $$'s from the isles and won nothing...hawks were not and could not give him 5 mil per for 6 years... |
