I'll work on mine later. Wonder if you could do this on capfriendly armchairGM.

Hammer and Johns on LTIR, no? Need a couple more defenseman. Rutta and Clendening?

You forgot Runblad BM.

Clearly Stan is targeting Danault after reading the comments here.

I guess the Hawks should have kept Leddy instead of winning that pesky 3rd cup

And Bickell really screwed the team over by going out and getting MS. Very selfish of him and his agent to not think about the team. Never mind the fact that Bickell took 4yr- 2.1m dollar deal (that's just over 500k a year for those counting) out of his entry level deal to help keep the team together when they were strapped up against the cap

- PatShart

Too bad they didn't trade him a season earlier, it may have been the 4th Cup.

Danault is about all I would want from the Habs. Considering what would be available of course.

Hell, we can give them a couple of LD if they need him so bad.

And you know about all the other offers he turned down?

On what do you base the statement he didn't get enough value?

- mohel

Mostly I'm guessing from the former always factual blogger who stated factually that there was a rumor that the Hawks turned down two second rounders from DAL for an aging/declining forward (and I liked Sharp) with a $5.9M cap hit.

Cleary with all those abysmal trades with absolutely no context provided, the Hawks would have won the last 5 Cups and 7 of the last 10.

Those rumours were in fact true, his “sources” verified them.

These other teams that you speak of, what have they won? Asking for a friend.
- Angotti

Multiple Cups won by Pens. Caps won one. Blues won one. Bruins made it to the SCF.

All these teams GMs have built their rosters much better than ours post 2013/14. That’s why they’re still contending year after year.

I know that Sharp and Johns(at the time a promising prospect) for 2 scrubs is a bad trade. It’s not rocket science. There’s a reason nobody liked that deal at the time, cuz the value didn’t match.

Not nearly as bad as Panarin for Saad though. Are you gonna defend that one too?

bruins were DNQ 14-15, 15-16, 16-17 lost to the sens in 1st round, 17-18 lost to the bolts

pens were nowhere for about 6 years after winning 2009...

I think we would have at least made it to another SCF after 2015 if better decisions were made.

Sharp was 33 and on the decline. Johns was a prospect...promising but no guarantee. Daley was ok but didn't really fit Q's system. Garbage sucked but again please provide the verified better offer that Stan was unable to bring to fruition.

At the time of the Saad/Panarin trade there was one guy on this board who didn't like it and I don't believe I see him post here anymore. At the time, before Panarin showed he could carry a Jacket team and Saad had an uncharacteristic bad year, pretty much everyone in these parts liked that trade...til of course hindsight could be applied.

Wrong. That's what the market brought, so that's what they were worth. You think they SHOULD have been worth more - sorry, they weren't. Unless, of course, you have evidence Stan actually passed up on better offers. You don't.

Thought they trade traded Bread for the wrong guy....The team needed a top pairing Dman not a rob Peter to pay Paul trade to "fix" the Toews line.

Don't necessarily disagree but I thought they'd trade Arty for a dman and Hammer for a fwd but they did the opposite.

I've noticed a few times when the Kane line is out there that they like to drop pass it back toward their own zone basically back to the goalie as the forechecking forwards are bearing in one them. A lot of the passes are from guys that are either stationary or barely skating. It would be great if they stopped that. I've seen way too many times where they either turn it over, or get pinned in their own end without a lot of support.

Look...I just see a current roster that gets killed every night in the fancy stats and using the eye test seems to be lacking in skill/speed. I also see A LOT of former Hawks with plenty of skill/speed all over the league that it seems we gave up on early or didn’t get equal value for in return. A good number of them are defensemen. When I look at our current blue line(arguably the worst in the NHL) that makes it all the more frustrating. Then to top things off I look at the contracts and NMCs we’ve handed out to a couple vets that have become crippling.

I think it’s silly to act like all of this is /was inevitable because of the cap, as if we just ran in to bad luck. There is blame that must be placed on the shoulders of the GM. I don’t see any way around that when you look at the status of our current roster and all the moves that led us to this point. This regression was avoidable, there were much better decisions that should have been made.
