Raanta left because he rooted for the other team when he was beaten out by Darling. He was dead in the locker room. Sharp's last year was '15. No '15 Cup without Sharp.

Details, details. Don't get in the way of the mantra, chief.

Panarin was traded because the Hawks didn’t have the cap space to pay him - had they let Sean’s walk they may had enough

Sure, unless Chelios is available.

Random news amidst the coach controversies:

- Regula added to Team USA preliminary roster for the WJC.

- Blackhawks in the mix for 2021 Winter Classic against the Wild. Although I'm sure management would say yes, I prefer the Hawks decline. Other teams deserve to play in it.

- NHL not hosting 2021 World Cup of Hockey as originally planned.

I could not agree more. I'm guessing they still make a decent amount of cash, but I really wish the NHL would go back to this being a rare happening.

Problem was they had the same agent and contracts ending in the same year. Kind of reverse anti trust. Tallon was waiting out there with deep pockets at that time. He would have gotten Stamkos had he not been already playing on the better Florida team. Shanahan did a great job playing hardball with Stamkos but he only had one guy to lose. We had two. Will never know what would have happened if Stan held to $9.0.
- rpeters01

Quite true.
Quite true.

That is total BS. The Toews and Kane contract started 2016, not 2015. We would have 3 cups just like we have now. The part that pisses me off, it was also PR'd as a team discount. Ya, right. Look at McKinnon's home team discount contract. That is a discount. He could have easily gotten 8mil a year.

Also Bickels contract was crap.

I said long ago, our boy SB has no plan.

Lots of excuses on Cap related trades - other teams have faced the same.

It’s increasingly difficult to defend Bowman & this lineup
He’s all in on the aging core & the sooner they start rebuilding the better.
I question his feel for the sport
- trades- hiring of Jeremy & the ugly contracts that never made sense.

Bowman is the definition of insanity- do the same & hope for different results

If nothing gives we will all be having this same conversation next year & the year after that!

It’s time to move on.

- Colbyboy

What’s funny is these posters admit how bad the trades were(TT, Danault, Kahun, Joker, etc) and how bad contracts like the one Seabs got are....and then at the same time continue to defend Bowman. I don’t get it.

It’s like in their minds all of those bad moves were inevitable and happened because of unknown supernatural forces. God forbid thinking that maybe the GM is to blame. They’re going out of their way to defend a guy who’s recent track record of poor decision making is off the charts. Makes no sense.

Regardless how in the hell are you only receiving Saad in return? That’s not close to enough value. That trade was horrendous there’s no defending it. Just ask anyone that’s not a Hawks fan. Way too many homer fans here that seem unwilling to admit how bad their GM has made a mess of things.

So you've been wrong a long time. Stan is an accountant- he wouldn't take a dump without a plan. And McD is a control freak- he couldn't go to sleep if he didn't know every detail of Stan's plan.

Would have been great. What most of the hindsighters also fail to point out is that 88 and 19’s deals were re-upped with two Cups in the bank...while the Great Stevie Y could pitch the idea to Stamkos about keeping the band together for a run at something that had eluded them then and still has.

Here's something we can do when things get slow on this site, maybe around the Christmas break or when the Hawks have the week off in January.

We should all put together the ex-Black Hawk team. Need a roster of 13F, 7D and 2G. They must be all current players and need to conform to the 81.5M cap.

- boilermaker100

Love this idea! I got some free time at the end of work today so meh...

Fowards

Panarin - Anisimov - Teravainen
Frolik - Danault - Kahun
Pirri - Schmaltz - Duclair
Hartman - Nordstrom - Hinostroza
Hayden

Defense

Hammer - Joki
Leddy - van Riemsdyk
Kempny - Johns
Oesterle

Goalies
Raanta
Nilsson

Total Cap Hit = 70.152M

kane/toews elc's expired with the cup win in 2010
their second contract expired with the cup win in 2015

as we all know those two contract situations after each cup win brought on huge cap issues

its quite unusual for a team with two young stars win the cup while both are on their elc..

i think crosby was in the 1st year of his new contract and malkin's exl was expiring when they won the cup in 2009

Bickell signed a fair contract before the MS affected him. Toews and Kane signed the year before their contracts were up I've always said Stan paid too much from the day they signed.

And you know about all the other offers he turned down?

On what do you base the statement he didn't get enough value?

List of former Hawks playing extremely well right now:

Panarin
Teravainen
Danault
Kahun
DuClair
Hinostroza
Schmaltz
Kempny
Leddy
Jokiharju
Oesterle

If better decisions were made with these players we’d still be contending right now. Imagine a roster with all of that plus 19,88,2,12,etc...imagine all that speed and skill...ya never know what might have been...

- SimpleJack

He was responsible for the Blackhawks having 2 odd man rushes in the first 5 minutes. He sucked when he was here, and he still sucks.

They won trades and best contract awards

Hawks won cups.

I think some people wish they'd win trades instead

I guess the Hawks should have kept Leddy instead of winning that pesky 3rd cup

And Bickell really screwed the team over by going out and getting MS. Very selfish of him and his agent to not think about the team. Never mind the fact that Bickell took 4yr- 2.1m dollar deal (that's just over 500k a year for those counting) out of his entry level deal to help keep the team together when they were strapped up against the cap

I'll work on mine later. Wonder if you could do this on capfriendly armchairGM.

Hammer and Johns on LTIR, no? Need a couple more defenseman. Rutta and Clendening?
