Ya true. Sucks that Shaw/Telus and the like still gouge $200 for 6 months of centre ice package. They can shove that up their asses. Everytime I look up the Shaw bill is another 8-10 bucks more joke
- LordHumungous

Liberate yourself.
We have no cable or sat and have 3 kids.
Disney+, Netflix, and Reditt gets you all you need. Costs us $21 a month and $80 for the Interweb.

Probably the biggest reason I don't have cable. I just stream my hockey games.

NFL is $20 per month on DAZN. First month is free. That's $60 for the year. Yeah, a lot less games, but still...
- Atomic Wedgie

If I watched enough NFL I could justify $60. But all the Seahawks games are broadcast in the regular cable package so no need to spend cash there.

I'm just sick of the gouging f*ucks at Shaw and the like. Ridiculous rates for Cable/internet. Time to look at dumping Shaw and possibly go streaming. Problem is they have you screwed on the sports channels which is really all I give a poop about lol

Its crazy how much they charge. My Dad still has cable on the Island. The cost goes up and they change the package details and drop channels from it constantly. He is 79, so the whole interweb/streaming thing is too much for him to figure out.

If it wasn't for live sports, I would cut the cable yesterday. But getting games for free off the interdweebs just isn't quite reliable enough yet, in terms of quality.

I don't know what it's like out on the left coast, but in Toronto you can hire a guy to install an over-the-air antenna at your house for about $200-250. It will get you about 30 channels.

My kids are happy watching stuff off our streaming, so they wouldn't miss the cable.

My dad is 84. About once a week, I have to walk him through turning on his TV. He stands too close when he hits the remote, so only the TV turns on - the cable box doesn't.

This comes off so privileged. When I went to uni I could get unlimited Shaw internet at a pretty good speed for like $50/month.

As it is now I pay nearly $200/month for cable and internet, and I have a data limit of 300 Gb/month

It depends where you are looking. Usually I can stream football and hockey without any issues. I've had better luck with Reddit than I have with Sportsnet Now (use my mom's email) for hockey in the last few weeks.

Thats why we quit. We are not the most savy computer people, but we can math things...
$140 per month for our cable package.
X 48 months since we cancelled.
= $6720
Thats after tax income.
So x 25% roughly.
=$8400
Super high quality live sports is not worth that much to me when I can watch it for free streaming it

I wish I could ditch my cable and stream everything but we literally don't have unlimited internet plans here, the biggest one is 500Gb/month and it costs a ton. As it is I would say 95% of the time I'm using cable is for live sports
