IMO, the Matthews money is fine, just wish it was for 7 years, not 5.

Marner was overpaid by $1M/$1.5, but we got him for 6 years, so that's good.
Nylander was overpaid by $400k, would have liked him to get 6.5M per season, but I like the deal and I think he will outplay the contract in 2 years.

Nylander is on pace for well over 60 points. That will be his 3rd in 3 full NHL seasons. He has a chance at 70+ points this year. He is 23 years-old...

In no other market would people keep knocking the GM for that contract.
