cool, why stop? give matthews 20 million a year, he's the greatest of all time.
make it 50 million, he has to go to the gym and skate in his off time AND he has to eat salad. - Bob_Zuruncle
What is the "gym" thing of which you speak? I have no need for salad. There is plenty of lettuce in my 6-pack of burritos.

Agree. The rule changes after the Dead Puck Era have worked. You can't sit back on a one goal lead. The talent level is great, the playoffs are great. I'm into it. - Zezel
I agree and I also don't at the same time. I like that the skill is becoming more important but I also grew up in the bench brawl era. Today you get alot of ooohs and awes when you see a great play. But back then you had 18000 people at the rink and millions of TV viewers on there feet screaming and cheering when there was a good brawl. Alot of drama has been taken out of the game and it's becoming more like baseball in a sence. Where you can step away from the TV for a bit, Miss 2 or 3 mins and come back and catch up on it and not sweat about it. Years ago you didn't dare leave for one second just in case you missed something. You made sure you had your beer, snacks and poop within reach. There was no (frank)ing way you'd risk running to the fridge. Then there was timing the bathroom breaks between commercials. Either that or stock up on Depends.
I understand because of head injuries, it had to go this way. But honestly I really miss the poop out of the old days... |

There are like no teams that we face in the rest of December that we should be losing to. If we don’t get on a hot streak soon we aren’t getting in the playoffs. Florida and Tampa are great teams. We really need to leapfrog Florida, because Tampa is gonna surge soon. We do not want to be fighting for wildcard spots. Might be a lost season boys. |

McCarty: Wings won in spite of Babcock in 08, lost because of him in 09.

Isn't it a thing that coaches try or used to try to do, unite the players, even against the coach. I thought I remembered that being a Keenan or a Torts thing? Not that it wwasn't high time for Babcock to be gone. |

Maybe, but sounds like McCarty is saying it was a matter of player usage on the Wings.
I think there's a line between challenging guys and making them say (frank) this guy altogether. |

I think in Babcock's case, there is enough out there now to easily believe that the Leafs were pretty much checked out. Seems like times changed, and he didn't. |

Man that is maybe the most gruesome cut I've seen in a fight.
He kept wiping his mouth afterwards, and all I could think is "WTF, doesn't that hurt?" |

How you been dude. Your Canucks are trending the right way it seems - Aetherial
Smoke and mirrors. We’re just waiting for the inevitable avalanche of injuries to hit. Then it’s back to reality. Nice to have a few young guns to cheer for while we wait.
Good to be back here. Hope it’s a decent game on Tuesday. |

Ratings for network television broadcasts across sports are down because there has been a revolution in how people consume entertainment generally. It's split off into many, many different options.
In this challenging environment the NHL is doing well enough that business analysts expect their next US tv deal to be much bigger than the previous one.
NHL revenue is at an all time high. They've expanded to 32 teams, with other markets available if current teams need to be moved.
But if you don't like it, don't watch. - Zezel

He got rocked but I didn't like the stoppage.
Only 5 seconds left in the fight (that he was easily winning), he was getting up immediately, and the guy who punched him walked away.
He could've lasted that 5 seconds easy. |

That's just piling on at this point and sounds like a really stupid excuse. - GreatGigInTheSky
Or it's McCarty giving his opinion, backing up others, and it's true. |
