Let’s hope the cap goes up or bye bye Marner or Nylander I guess? - Garnie
It's safe to assume it won't go up for the 1st time in it's history. |

it's more safe to assume that it will go up 3-4 times more than the previous biggest cap increase |

Yeah.
Well he could go all out and get a Jarry or Georgiev.
He is in a tough spot but if they have to give up a prospect to get a goalie I do it. - Santo_44
They might be too expensive.
Maybe a DeSmith or try trading Ceci and Hutchinson for Jimmy Howard? I don't know.. Something, anything is better than what we have now. |

Because you can't read. I never said 15 million in 1 year. I never said 15 million due to Seattle. |

That creates a hole on the RS and to get what? A struggling goalie in return? |

FFS tired of Roger sucking Nylander and Dubas' cocks..
Nylander is overpaid because he is a 'me first' guy that will avoid any physical contact and that will never help any team to actually win a Stanley Cup.
Keller >> Nylander.
Hayes >> Nylander.
100s of players are better than Nylander.
Nylander friggin sucks.
Marner and MAtthews are slightly overpaid.
Nylander is hugely overpaid, since he is a net negative for the Leafs. |

you said the cap would be 100 million when Laine gets his new deal after next year.
it's 81.5 right now.......it's only projected to go up 2-3 million for next year.......so yeah, that's 15+ mil in one year to get to 100 |

Again, the Vegas cap bump occurs the season AFTER and that's mentioned in your article:
The incredible success of the Vegas Golden Knights culminating in a Stanley Cup Finals berth helped grow the revenue of the league and thus had a tremendous impact on the salary cap. The current salary cap is $79.5 million, an 8.9 percent increase from the 2016-17 season.
The cap will never go up a dime due to expansion until a year after they have completed a season and all revenues are tabulated. - RogerRoeper
This is a bit of a common misconception. Allow me to explain:
Yes, the NHL does use the last year's revenues to calculate the next year's salary cap (they look at revenues and then add a little bit due to inflation).
But...
The salary cap that is announced for the upcoming year is not the actual salary cap - it's merely a projection. At the end of that year, they do the actual calculation. That's why they have escrow.
I realize that this is a bit of a technicality that doesn't affect the argument to much, but I thought I would point it out because it's pissing rain so I've skipped my trip to the gym. |
