Whoa....Who said they would be on the roster next year? Just for the tank. Coleman and Palms are our two most consistant players, but Coleman occupies a log-jammed LW, and would land a 2nd at worst (a 1st potentially if we retain 900k). Would you prefer to keep him until he is 29? Between free agency and the potential plethora of draft picks we have, we can attain true NHL players in the offseason. But if those boys have decent interest, move them.

I'm saying you want Coleman on the roster next year over any UFA we can grab for under 3mil. We won't get a 1st for him.

I'd agree with this. He put up 22 goals last year and is currently on a higher pace this year. Although to be fair I think he scored more in the beginning of the season last year and faded down the stretch... but whatever. He seems to be a legit 20 goal (or better) scorer who can kill penalties and plays his ass off. Hard guy to move.

IF a team offered a first (which I agree is very unlikely) it would be a tough decision. I think you'd have to pull the trigger on that... but he just turned 28 and should have several good years ahead.

I would not trade Coleman unless we get another "heart" player in return. He is one of maybe 3 people on the team that play like they care.

And that is fair. I agree, he never takes a night off, and finishes every hit. A guy any team would love to have and hate to play against. But honestly, if we retain 50% of his salary, would a team not offer a 1st rd pick for this guy? If he is moved, it means Boq, Gusev get more TOI, and Bratt finally stops getting scratched. Coleman has been fantastic for the Devs, but if he can bring in a 1st, I would happily cheer for him in the post-season.

Wonder if the Stars are shocked or if they knew this was coming ?

Could be able to catch them off gaurd if they where unaware !

Just seems interesting to fire a coach on game day...

Hopefully. Getting pretty tired of hearing from other fans what a feeble haul we are going to get for Hall.

After the league announcement that teams would be punished for not reporting problems with their coaches they just went through with firing him not to get penalized.

Maybe he hurt himself laughing that we signed a guy with 5 goals for $50M+?!

Or maybe he hurt his pride that Jack Hughes is taking his #1 center spot?

Or he could be dehydrated from crying a river over how bad our goaltending is. Or the team. Or he just misses Hynes.

Probably not the clap.... and you can probably play thru that.

Jack still has a long ways to go. He is coming a long and looking dangerous but he still needs to be more assertive.

He needs to take those points for himself and not keep waiting for guys to bury his passes.

He has the talent to carry a team offensively he just needs to realize it more and take it.

I will say I hate that they took him off pp1 as pp2 gets 30 seconds or less every single time.

Sometimes i feel Jack is to quick to distribute the puck. Yes he is a playmaker and a hell of one to boot but he has the tools to take it there himself and beat guys wide and drive the net or at least take it there more which I will admitt he has done a few times!

A 1st would be unlikely, but could be possible if we retain 50%. Some cap crunched contenders would love to have him for this post-season, and all next year on the cheap. Now if he were traded for a 3rd, I would not be happy. Coleman is a workhorse capable of 20 goals and if nobody makes an aggressive offer, he should remain a Dev.

The thing I am having trouble with is everyone seems to be fine with paying a late first at the deadline for players just like Coleman but Taylor Halls offers are only slighty slightly better then what the highest non star player will go for at the deadline.

You are 100% right. Most often, the winner of any trade is the team that acquired the single biggest name. Anytime a star is traded, the return has many unknowns that usually don't pan out. In our case, at the very least, getting a guy like say Tuch, from Vegas, at least promises a top 6 forward who is inked for another 5 years. We would hope for a 1st on top of that which would be our big unknown. But it goes both ways, Hall could always resign this offseason with us, and we would only be a stronger team. But I understand the frustration. When Coleman and Vats could fetch the same return as Hall, it just doesn't make sense.
