lmao😆
i was pleasantly surprised to wake up and discover that they didn’t blow that lead👍🏿
now we have to worry about them improving just enough to finish in 9th😭 - Skalapy
1000 simulations of the remainder of the season says there's a 33.8% chance the Leafs make the playoffs. Up about 5% since before the Blues game... |

He rarely misses anything. He doesn’t need a replay to know what happened, he’s way ahead of the guys in the truck. - shack67

Couldnt watch the game but glad to see they chased Binnington. First time he has ever been pulled as a starter. |

Pretty much all you can ask for on a road game.
They looked pretty dominant for a good chunk of the game; STL is a good team, had some good looks, but our PK was perfect: that's the most exciting takeaway for me; special teams have to be better or we're toast.

I remember when they had something like an 80 or 90 percent chance one season, then the 18 wheeler flew off the cliff. |

What? How come it's cool to bash on the numbers nerds but not the sports science nerds?
"Possession is stupid. Watch the game, nerd."
"No team has ever won the cup where a goalie has started more than 50 games, that's a new fact that I am not going to bother researching. It's science!"
I'm being a bit tongue in cheek, but it was just 7 years ago that Quick started 69 games and then played 20 more in the playoffs where he posted a 1.41GAA and a .946%.
Most of the years since, where "cup winning goalies rarely played more than 50, and certainly not more than 60" saw injuries to the starter hamper their numbers.
While I do agree that there's credence to resting the starting the goalie, I also think the correlation stats are overblown by recency bias and coincidence.
2012: Crawford plays 30 games; limited due to injury.
2013: Quick plays 49 games; limited due to injury.
2014: Crawford plays 57 games; he missed 13 more due to upper body injuries.
2015: Fleury plays 57 games; he missed around 10 more due to concussion.
2016: Murray plays 49 games; he was platooning with Fleury and still missed about 17 games with a broken hand & lower body injury.
2017: Holtby plays 54 games; he lost his starting job for a bit to Grubauer because he was sucking. In fact they started Grubauer in the playoffs until he poop the bed, and then Holtby took over.
2018: Binnington plays 32 games. I mean he was in the (frank)ing minors until he was called up in December, but you know . . .

Pretty much, the media and fans overblow everything.
Every year there is a new way you have to do it in order to win a cup.
One year you need the best defense.
The next year you need the best goalie.
Then the next its load managment.
Then you need to win a certain amount of games on a Tuesday night,

Every team has nice pieces.
This isn't the NBA where bad teams are (frank)ing useless.

3 guys I'd think are pretty valuable given their ability and contract situations. |

Carolina got into the 3rd round playing "soft" hockey.
Get a team identity and play to your strengths well. Then have a hot goalie and you have a good chance at the cup. |

While I don't think Carolina hit hard or played "heavy" hockey, they employed a heavy forecheck and were dedicated to getting back on D when the forecheck failed to cause a turnover. It was good hockey because it applied serious pressure.
I like the Leafs current ability to attack with numbers and try to retain possession (as long as they learn to do it consistently and not regress to old habits), but I would like to see them to employ a more aggressive forecheck as well. Realistically, I'm not sure that the Leafs have the players to successfully apply that, though. |

Foxes, because they are so foxy, have many more opportunities to be promiscuous than do dogs. Ipso facto foxes are more likely to be carriers. Dogs, while perhaps not quite as fetching as a bushy-tailed zorra, as les likely to leave you a souvenir. In my limited experience. |
