Me too regarding Hughson and Simpson...I hate homers for the most part.

I miss Bob Cole. Just his cadence and ability to build the drama. When he would say 'tremendous pressure by these Maple Leafs!' or 'SCRAMBLE!' it would give me chills. If they would only do a EA Sports mod with him as the voice I would shell out large for that.

When the parade goes down Yonge st. and bangs a ralph onto Front St. W are we going to stop and celebrate in front of the Hockey Hall of Fame or does the parade continue? Asking for a friend.

Here's the thing. If they were neutral, their stance would be positive towards Toronto at some point. It really isn't.

If the Leafs get a penalty, it's always, "The [opponent] can [catch up] / [increase the lead] / [put the Leafs away]".

If the Leafs get a power play, it's, "The [opponent] will have to kill this off to [stand a chance] / [keep the lead] / [get some momentum]".

In other words - the subject of the broadcast is never positively directed towards the Leafs. That is not neutrality. That's why it's frustrating on Hockey Night in Canada.

I honestly think it's more neutrality, and Leaf fans filter it through their own bias because they are in a emotionally triggered and hyper vigilant state while watching the game. I read an article about national broadcasters in various sports, they all say that every fan base thinks they are biased against their particular team.

But I know I'm in the minority on this, lots of Leaf fans feel this way about Hughson. I just find his calls bland and his catchphrases don't do much for me. I like Simpson though.

- Zezel

With Hughson, it's not just what he says, it's how he says it. The way he describes what occurred. Leafs player gets a stick between his legs and goes down? He says they fell. Same thing happens to a guy on the other team? He was taken down. If they don't call something he thinks should be a penalty against the Leafs even though it was literally nothing, he says the Leafs "got away with one there" (says this multiple times every game).

Like, Marner was clearly taken out on the PK, and he quite literally didn't even acknowledge it.

Hughson it the absolute worst and has no business calling Leafs games.

On top of everything, he watches a completely different game than the one that is being played on the ice.

Sweetness

Play like that in front of the backup and we wouldn’t need a new backup

Can't happen. Team dies inside every time because of the soft ass goals he lets in. Completely deflates them.

Things will be movin' a tad slow down there this year with the Raps celebrating their second one as well. Not sure the city is big enuff.

Actually got to see that game today on TSN. Wish they would show more of their games. Marlie goalie had a great afternoon.

Really like that big heavy body of Engvall on the rush. He's got that " just try and bull me over" air about him.

He's a hard worker and a big body with some offensive intelligence in his game. I'd rather have seen him on Matthews' wing than Aberg. I thought Aberg looked useless.

He rarely misses anything. He doesn’t need a replay to know what happened, he’s way ahead of the guys in the truck.

Also been up a bit more and didn't have the jitters and trying not to make a screw up out of the gate though too, to be fair. Give him a couple more games and see on Aberg.
