I just don't get how clueless you have to be to think a Vancouver guy would be the best guy to do Leafs games. It should never be a good idea to take a chance on alienating the biggest market in the country.

I honestly think it's more neutrality, and Leaf fans filter it through their own bias because they are in a emotionally triggered and hyper vigilant state while watching the game. I read an article about national broadcasters in various sports, they all say that every fan base thinks they are biased against their particular team.

But I know I'm in the minority on this, lots of Leaf fans feel this way about Hughson. I just find his calls bland and his catchphrases don't do much for me. I like Simpson though.

Great game and effort tonight overall and a HUGE two points we had to have. That said Dubas you got 12 days now to get the backup sorted out we cannot wait till after the Xmas break to get that taken care of. We need those points! Get on it already!

They played with some jam when the Blues tried to get chippy with em, moved the puck pretty well in the o-zone.

I don't think they got the best of the blues but good game for the leaves

They ignored the trip on Marner while he was penalty killing. Then they ignored the trip on Matthews immediately after.

They've seemingly completely stopped calling interference this year.

I don't know. You know, for all but a couple of years when my kids were young, I've been a season ticket holder for the Toronto Rock. I love the game. I STILL don't understand the rules because the officiating is so inconsistent and unpredictable. I'm a firm believer that the game would have more success if the officiating was better understood and more consistently applied.

Drawing a comparison - when I used to watch games in the 70's as a kid - and I'll grant you got one a week on Saturday on CBC - they had educational things teaching kids about the rules and how the game works. For the most part the game was called by those rules, too. As a result, it was easy to glom on to. I think it was probably in the 90's when penalties started to become a more subjective thing - relative to the score and the flow of the game.
