That's why I suggested trading Ladd. It's a net gain of only $5 million against the cap that way.

But yeah, I do realize that it makes it harder to sign everyone in the next few years. On the other hand, if Toews gets back his game, it makes the Isles immediate contenders, I would think.

No one is taking Ladd off our hands.

As of this moment, I tend to agree. However, if Chicago is looking to do a complete rebuild, and Toews continues his subpar play, Chicago might look to swap a big albatross (Toews @$10.5 million per) for a smaller one (Ladd @$5.5 million per).

No one is taking Ladd unless it’s a team trying to reach the cap floor and we most likely include a pick. Maybe even a first🤮

So would you trade Ladd and a first for Toews?

There is no way on earth the Hawks take Ladd and a first for Toews.

There is no way any team takes Ladd unless the Isles retain 99% of his salary. Even then there probably won't be anyone interested.

We can hope he retires too but that's not happening either. I think the best case is he gets fed up with the AHL and goes on LTIR.

Ladd, Bellows and the 2020 1st for Toews with 2 mill retained.

Chicago gets 3 mill in cap space, a struggling prospect and a 1st. Oh and Ladd I guess.

Islanders get a solid 2C at above market level coin.

I’d probably do it. Highly doubt Toews would sign off on it.

So one of Barzal and Nelson is not a solid 2C?

And the Isles already have one Toews...

I think there’s a reason Brassard is being used again at center and I think
it’s because Hall as a rental for the PO run is definitely an option if this team is still very competitive come PO time.

If Ladd gets traded it’ll be for a team looking to reach the floor and we’ll give up a first and potentially more to make it happen. He’s that (frank)ing bad😂

That’s optimistic but I would think if that’s Lameriello’s plan he would most likely want to get it done ASAP to help the team now. Maybe I’m wrong but I would think playoff position has to play some kind of part in the thought process.

I think the Devils are trying to get an answer or deal done with him and if he’s not signing they will trade him. They aren’t in the PO picture so if he isn’t signing he’ll be traded obviously.
I’m sure Lou has already spoken to FS about Hall along with a handful of other GMs.
I think the Isles are at a point where they can trade picks and or prospects to add to the current roster to make a run at the Cup.
He’s perfect for The Isles in my mind as a PO rental.

Let me add I don’t believe a word of EKs BS
