Hearing Kovalchuk's contract with the LA Kings will be terminated but Ilya still wants to stay in the NHL while having a lucrative offer from Omsk Avangard in the KHL #gokingsgo

Pro-rated 1 year deal at-or-around the league minimum? Thoughts? He's got a history with Lamoriello.

Wrong again.😡

On getting him, no (frank)ing thank you.
For me he doesn’t fit on a Trotz coached team. He will be fine in the KHL.

You want him?

I think he does and if he's playing for peanuts than it's not hard to dump him if he is an abject disaster. To me it's a no-risk, guilt-free signing...as long as it's for one year. I don't think anyone is going to cry if he pushes Dal Colle out of the lineup.

I would rather have Dal Cole who throws checks and plays defense than him prancing around the outside. Again no thanks.
He is Russian so I understand your attraction.
He played ok in the KHL but I think the NHL is not in his cards anymore.

Hoffman picked that, great hand eye

I'm not dying to sign him, but he actually started the season pretty well offensively. Can't ignore that the team he plays for is a dumpster fire. I just think on a minimum pay contract for about a half season that there's nothing but upside. If he sucks, waive him and let him rot. Not something I'm pushing hard for though.

I think a top 6 scoring forward is on the radar for sure but Kovy’s NHL days has past him by.

Honestly they seem to be winning with what they have so it’s not an emergency.

The right side is Dobson's side. Seemed like Barry was really working to get him back there yesterday when, as Burke pointed out, they were basically rotating 5 D and throwing Dobson in sporadically (before Pelech got hurt).

I thought Dobson played really well last night. Obviously tough to break up a lineup that's been mostly winning, but if they want Boychuk healthy down the line they may want to consider giving him a break now and again and letting Dobson run with it a bit more.

My bad I thought Mayfield was left side. Yes I thought he was solid last night looked really sharp on the PP a couple of times as well

Well there's a good chance he's available if FLA falls out of the playoff race, which has a pretty good chance of happening since the Metro is stacked and it's likely both wildcard teams will be from our division. If they can't climb into the top-3 in the Atlantic it's going to be real tough to get in.

I think Lou needs a 3C or sure fire top 6 forward. No trades for the last two deadlines and I think Lou is going to really try to do something this year.

You’re nuts. MDC is good for one thing and that’s chasing after the puck usually a step and a half behind. Not saying Kovy is the answer but like chiefs said it’s a low risk high reward opportunity what do they have to lose?

He has a 10 team no-trade clause. Might the Islanders still make everyone's list?

His contract expires after this season. If they can't re-sign him, better not to lose him for nothing.
