There are always people who are going to never change their mind, those are the ones that are already pretty educated on whatever subject it is. Sadly most of the world doesn't even know about these issues. I think raising awareness on a subject is pretty vital. Up until a few years ago half of north america didn't even know what climate change was.....

Well, we've already done 1/3 of what they did.

Points?

They are .500 points% only 7 teams in the league are there or below.

not middle of the pack; not close

- Aetherial

Only the Bruins are above .500 in their past 10 games in the Atlantic.

The Leafs are right there with the rest of them in the Atlantic.

The whole Atlantic division doesn't try obviously.

If someone could come up with a viable idea on how to replace fossil fuels people would listen. It’s not windfarms that’s for sure unless we go back to using whale 🐳 oil to augment it. And celebrities should stay out of it. They all got together about six months ago for a big summit, the problem was that they all showed up on private jets and super yachts. But prince Harry gave a speech in his bare feet so that made up for it.
- shack67

I would like to believe that is true.

The problem is that a big part of "viable" in most people's minds is cost. Between cost and range limitations, we have a ways to go unfortunately.

I'm going to strongly disagree on this one.
She is preaching to the choir.

The key to any political movement is converting those who think the opposite.

She's not winning over anyone who doesn't agree with her - she's simply allowing them to dismiss climate change as the non-informed ramblings of an uneducated 16 year old, who is the puppet of those promoting their cause.

I felt the same way about Colin Kaepernick. Did I support his right to protest? Hell yes. Absolutely.

Do I think he changed anyone's mind? Hell no. Those who were already on his side agreed with him. Those who didn't agree with him in the first place were given the excuse they needed to dismiss him as disprespectful to "the flag" (yeah, don't get me started), and a whole host of other stupid stereotypes about him that they were very happy to embrace.

As they used to say, keep your eyes on the prize.

- Atomic Wedgie

I think the whole climate change, global warming is more of a farce since the advocates have to trot out children to make their point.

They have to go 34-18 in their final 52 games.. If St. Louis can do it, why can't we?

Also, I hope we can do it, just not 100% sure.. So, I wouldn't bet on it..

But, yeah.. We can do it.. 68 points in 52 games... Piece of, I don't know, cake?

- PatC80

St. Louis had arguably the best defence corp in the league and a very deep forward group that all played a playoff style brand of hockey. They were missing a goalie and removing Yeo was addiction by subtraction.

Leafs have a goalie, a terrible d core and they play a regular season style that will be even more exposed the second half of the year just like last season. If I'm Dubas I start looking at trades now.

But why is the media covering the life and times of Greta Thunberg, instead of you know, just telling us what people with actual knowledge of climate change have to say?
- Atomic Wedgie

They tried the scientists, then U.S. Republicans p1ssed all over it so they went and found a kid to show the adult world how fu3king dumb they are for not listening.

Not really working but, I think, important enough issue to TRY ANYTHING!!!

It would be a different conversation if people had a life span of 200 years. Then it would affect the old white cu3ts in power with only 20yrs-ish of life left that are still cashing in on the destruction, JMHO.

I agree.

I don't think she is doing any harm....She may not be swaying anyones opinion....and as we have seen on here, no one really does change their mind

But she is raising awareness and grabbing young people who never formed an opinion...not a bad strategy.

Wow.

This changes everything.

Really.

I'm completely changing my opinion fellas. I was totally wrong.

This guy can really give Aardvark a run for his money as worst poster.

Should be a great competition this year.

And I'm off for the weekend! Have a good one!

There's no reason to replace, "fossil" fuels. They aren't made from fossils. They occur naturally in the environment. There are more deposits than we could use for the next 500 years.

At this point I am hoping they can recoup some picks by being out of it at the deadline and dumping some FA's

Sadly, I think a 9th place finish and 11th overall pick going to Carolina is more likely.

You just stated the Leafs are 24th overall.

It would be incredibly impressive for a team to go from 24th to 2nd or 3rd in the division and they could do that in a few weeks. Or even 3 days.

Oh wait, its not because every other Atlantic team is within 0-4 points.

Not to mention things like cobalt mines. Lithium mines and all the other mining that is terrible for the environment that no one talks about that is used in these 'green' technologies. But really it's money, and exploiting African children is far cheaper than paying Chinese workers. Follow the money.

Agreed. I wish they would just cut bait now. They aren't good enough to win it all. Not even close, so might as well recoup and look to next season. But they won't.

Can't be racist of old white people when I am one.

I'm more of a "dumbist"...I hate all dumb people regardless of race, sex, sexual preference, amputee, STD, acronym choice, et al...just happens most of the people in power are old white dumb people.

I guess mechanical engineers can't be scientists, even when they work on science projects for the Mars rover?

Interesting.
