Because I don't particularly care what Greta Thunberg has to say - she has the perspective of a 16 year old. She doesn't add anything to the conversation. She just parrots what others tell her to say, and she does it in a franking annoying way.

And yes, I am a strong advocate for taking actions to mitigate climate change.

- Atomic Wedgie

You may not.....But there are a lot that do.

The fact this whole board knows who she is and what she is all about is positive.

But the real factor is how she is looked upon by young people. They are the future of our world and it seems as if she has made a difference there.

She can be annoying though

2-4 decades for a significant impact.
Still all other measures won't do poop so let's not waste money on those.
It would help as well if people wouldnt strive for eternal life - and finally accept that 90+ years isnt exactly quality of life (in general)

- MaximusAurelius

I am skeptical thats the solution.

I mean sure, that and targeting the huge corporations that pollute the most and how the world consumes food etc etc... all of it together might help

Greed will win out im sure. I really dont have a lot of hope myself. I dont have kids to worry about after im gone fortunately

True Wedgie Story:

Last weekend, we took my mom and dad out for dinner. It's at a private club, so my dad can't attempt to pick up the tab.

So what does he do? Orders the cheapest meal on the menu.

Tofu and rice for franking Sunday dinner.

I'd find this to be funny, except I'm EXACTLY like my old man, so I know that eventually I will be pissing off my daughters in exactly the same way.

Itā€™s not an overpopulation threat, itā€™s greedy people exploiting the world for their own benefit, and denying people a real opportunity to live a sustainable lifestyle.

It all comes down to how to save money, and itā€™s always cheaper to pollute. All they have to do it convince 50.1% people out there that itā€™s not a big deal, and that youā€™ll lose your pollution causing job if you think otherwise.

So if they turn it on and get top 3 in the Atlantic is it super impressive because they were 24th in the league or meh because they were 2 points out of 2nd?

his post reminds me of this

That's a lot of questions but I'll answer as best as I can. First of all, Kudos to you for even knowing that there IS a difference!!

Miss USA is mostly about looks. There are three phases of competition all weighted equally - evening gown, swimsuit and interview.

Miss America is more about the total package. There are five phases of competition - Talent at 35%, Interview at 25%, Evening Gown at 20%, Swimsuit at 15% and On Stage Question at 5%.

There are three things that really make the Miss America system different...there is a talent portion, the interview is much more intense and, most importantly, it provides millions of dollars in scholarships not only to the winners, but runner ups, preliminary winners, etc. every year.

Neither system is necessarily "better" than the other. They are just different. There are girls that are successful only in one system, but there are many that crossover and are successful in both.

Hope this explains it

Greta is being used. She knows nothing about the 'science' she purports to. If you don't believe me watch her rehearsed speech at the UN in September, and then watch the press conference after. Had no idea what to say.

Her mother wrote in her book that Greta suffers from multiple mental problems, including aspergers as well as anorexia. Yet her mother and father, who are both members of Antifa - a communist group - are trotting her around the world for money. It's actually pretty sick.

Both her parents are actors. Her dad has done some production. This is likely why her speeches are so well choreographed but she is unable to answer simple questions. Her mother has acted in soft porn opera. Yes you read that right. As well as occult theatre.

If these people gave any poops about their daughter they would be taking care of her at home.

I'm going to strongly disagree on this one.
She is preaching to the choir.

The key to any political movement is converting those who think the opposite.

She's not winning over anyone who doesn't agree with her - she's simply allowing them to dismiss climate change as the non-informed ramblings of an uneducated 16 year old, who is the puppet of those promoting their cause.

I felt the same way about Colin Kaepernick. Did I support his right to protest? Hell yes. Absolutely.

Do I think he changed anyone's mind? Hell no. Those who were already on his side agreed with him. Those who didn't agree with him in the first place were given the excuse they needed to dismiss him as disprespectful to "the flag" (yeah, don't get me started), and a whole host of other stupid stereotypes about him that they were very happy to embrace.

As they used to say, keep your eyes on the prize.

They would have to win acting as the best team in the league the rest of the way just to get a wild card. They're done.

They have to go 34-18 in their final 52 games.. If St. Louis can do it, why can't we?

Also, I hope we can do it, just not 100% sure.. So, I wouldn't bet on it..

But, yeah.. We can do it.. 68 points in 52 games... Piece of, I don't know, cake?

Well, hopefully Dubas is able to make some good trades at the deadline. Barrie should fetch a decent return. Muzzin as well. All UFAs need to get a return this time. It's actually not the worst thing in the world as they an do quick flip and pickup draft picks, cap space, and go into the offseason with flexibility. All depends on Dubas.

If someone could come up with a viable idea on how to replace fossil fuels people would listen. Itā€™s not windfarms thatā€™s for sure unless we go back to using whale šŸ³ oil to augment it. And celebrities should stay out of it. They all got together about six months ago for a big summit, the problem was that they all showed up on private jets and super yachts. But prince Harry gave a speech in his bare feet so that made up for it.

Wow.

This changes everything.

Really.

I'm completely changing my opinion fellas. I was totally wrong.

This guy can really give Aardvark a run for his money as worst poster.

Should be a great competition this year.

And I'm off for the weekend! Have a good one!

It is somehow not surprising that our superstar somehow thinks they are middle of the pack.

...and why are they even bugging him. Leave him the F alone to figure out his sh1t.

Tavares is the captain, bug him.

There are always people who are going to never change their mind, those are the ones that are already pretty educated on whatever subject it is. Sadly most of the world doesn't even know about these issues. I think raising awareness on a subject is pretty vital. Up until a few years ago half of north america didn't even know what climate change was.....

I donā€™t get why youā€™re always so happy when the leafs are bad. And I know you get wet when Matthews is in a slump.
