If you check Gretas Twitter its littered with "Listen to the Scientist"

and the replies...Why should I listen to a little girl, why arnt you in school

- senstroll

But once again, why do I franking care if a 16 year old is telling me to listen to scientists?

I'd rather listen to scientists than listen to a 16 year old tell me to listen to scientists.

I don't really franking care about her opinion.

Sorry.

Most people agree that global warming to aome extent is influenced by people living on this planet.

Part of the people that are not buying into the Greta hype are realists about the proposed measures being utterly dumb and infantile.

If we truly want to limit global warming the most effective way to do so would be to slow down world population growth - and that can be mainly achieved through strategic investments in education of young children and girls in particular, and investing in girls and women's sexual reproductive rights programmes (which in some cases means a frontal attack to religions and 'cultures').

More people = more pollution.

so

"listen to the scientists"

"why should I listen to you, I can just listen to the scientist"

this sounds like a lot of yelling at clouds

We had Zack Morris teaching us the consequences of being a cheeky and mischievous high shool heartthrob and my generation turned out OK

Your generation learned how to stuff a giant cell phone into the back pocket of your acid-wash jeans, and how to not be able to get an acting job past your one teeny-bopper show.

But why is the media covering the life and times of Greta Thunberg, instead of you know, just telling us what people with actual knowledge of climate change have to say?

how many years/decades does that take to maybe work?

people will just squabble for decades about it while poop gets worse because everyone else knows the best way to fix things.

or it threatens your way of life and $$$$$ so you oppose it

It's not a global warming threat.
It's an overpopulation threat.
But that's a phrase that politically is very delicate to discuss..

declining birth rates will take care of it soon enough. peak population isn't that far away.

but like you said, with education and the use of birth control, it will be accelerated.

than on to the next catastrophe - a declining population!

2-4 decades for a significant impact.
Still all other measures won't do poop so let's not waste money on those.
It would help as well if people wouldnt strive for eternal life - and finally accept that 90+ years isnt exactly quality of life (in general)

Because I don't particularly care what Greta Thunberg has to say - she has the perspective of a 16 year old. She doesn't add anything to the conversation. She just parrots what others tell her to say, and she does it in a franking annoying way.

And yes, I am a strong advocate for taking actions to mitigate climate change.

It’s not an overpopulation threat, it’s greedy people exploiting the world for their own benefit, and denying people a real opportunity to live a sustainable lifestyle.

It all comes down to how to save money, and it’s always cheaper to pollute. All they have to do it convince 50.1% people out there that it’s not a big deal, and that you’ll lose your pollution causing job if you think otherwise.

True Wedgie Story:

Last weekend, we took my mom and dad out for dinner. It's at a private club, so my dad can't attempt to pick up the tab.

So what does he do? Orders the cheapest meal on the menu.

Tofu and rice for franking Sunday dinner.

I'd find this to be funny, except I'm EXACTLY like my old man, so I know that eventually I will be pissing off my daughters in exactly the same way.
