It seems like dumbass' poor cap management may affect the on-ice talent. What if Johnson is ready by christmas but has to miss 3 games in favour of some scrub, all because no cap space. Am I wrong here?

Babcock is the boss, member?
- Santo_44

That's the point. Babcock is a female genitalia? Great, get him out. Keefe comes in with the same system, new way of motivating. That was the entire point.

Maybe they need a new system, one that doesn't require Vezina goaltending to win a game. Our team defense is laughable

Even if this team goes STL Blues and wins the cup, they will go on another bad slump like this.

STL will go on one within the next few years.

Things get magnified in Toronto. The sky is falling.

- Santo_44

Blues win the cup so the key to winning the cup is a coaching change. Pitts did it too, so it will 100% work.

Let's just ignore that both Berube and Sullivan had prior NHL coaching experience, cause that doesn't fit the narrative TSN and Sportsnet is telling us.

2018-19 Mid Season Coach Changes

Success:

St. Louis Blues Mike Yeo Craig Berube Berube, who had served as assistant coach with the Blues since 2017, and was a head coach of the Flyers was named the interim head coach. Won Stanley Cup.

Failures:

Anaheim Ducks Randy Carlyle Bob Murray* . General manager Murray took over as interim head coach for the rest of the season

Chicago Blackhawks Joel Quenneville Jeremy Colliton Jeremy Colliton, the head coach for the Rockford IceHogs, succeeded Quenneville as head coach of the Blackhawks – Blackhawks looked great after their coaching change to a rookie!

Edmonton Oilers Todd McLellan Ken Hitchcock

Los Angeles Kings John Stevens Willie Desjardins Former

Vancouver Canucks head coach Desjardins was named the interim head coach

Ottawa Senators Guy Boucher Marc Crawford Crawford, who last coached the Dallas Stars, was named the interim head coach.

Philadelphia Flyers Dave Hakstol Scott Gordon* Former New York Islanders head coach Gordon was named the interim head coach.

2017-18 Mid Season Coach Changes

NONE

2016-17 Mid Season Coach Changes

Success:

Bruins Claude Julien Bruce Cassidy* Julien Bruce Cassidy, who was serving as the assistant coach, and previously was head coach to the Bruins' AHL affiliate, stepped in to the fill the spot as interim head coach. Cassidy lead the Bruins to an 18–8–1 record through their remaining regular season games to get the Bruins into the playoffs for the first time since 2014.

Failures:

Florida Panthers Gerard Gallant Tom Rowe* Tom Rowe, former coach of the Portland Pirates, the AHL affiliate of the Panthers, and general manager of the Panthers at the time, stepped in to fill the spot as interim head coach.

Montreal Canadiens Michel Therrien Claude Julien
New York Islanders Jack Capuano Doug Weight* Doug Weight who was serving as the assistant manager, stepped in to fill the spot as interim head coach.

St. Louis Blues Ken Hitchcock Mike Yeo Mike Yeo, who was fired by the Minnesota Wild the previous season, and would have been the head coach starting the 2017–18 season, was promoted from his position of associate coach.

2015-16 Mid Season Coach Changes

Success:

Pittsburgh Penguins Mike Johnston Mike Sullivan Sullivan who was coaching the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League at the time, received the call for the head coaching vacancy with the main club. He was in his first season with the farm team, taking them to an 18–5–0–0 record and the Stanley Cup. Sullivan was an Assistant Coach with Vancouver, New York Rangers and Tampa Bay.

Minnesota Wild Mike Yeo John Torchetti* Torchetti who was coaching the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League at the time. Torchetti was also an Assistant Coach with the Hawks and Thrashers. Wild made the playoffs.

Failures:

Columbus Blue Jackets Todd Richards John Tortorella He had been the head coach of the Vancouver Canucks (2013–14), New York Rangers (2009–13), and the Tampa Bay Lightning (2001–08). He guided Tampa Bay to the Stanley Cup in 2004.

First of all Syl Apps is a very serious venereal disease and is no laughing matter.

Off hand, there's Frank Bialowas. I'm not sure how that's pronounced, but if it's pronounced like I think it's pronounced, this guy can't get a job for HR violations whenever he gives his name.

Sprague Cleghorn because I'm pretty sure he's a skating chicken who's always being pursued by a chickenhawk.

We had a guy named Bronco Horvath. If that's his real name, that's great.

Rolly Huard. All the best names are from the 30's. When you could name your kid Flash unironically.

I'm just sort of scanning through, but I remember Ralph Intranuovo. Another great one from the 30's: Bingo Kampman. He was a dog. Oh!

They had a guy, Butch Keeling, who was probably a Little Rascal. With a name like Butch, he only had 81PIM in 73 games. I'm more than a little disappointed.

There was Joe Klukay in the late 40s who probably would have loved last year's outdoor uniform, but would have preferred a different head covering.

If you were an alien trying to pretend like you weren't, Orland Kurtenbach, seems like a bad choice of names.

Harry Mummery, Goldie Prodgers, Beattie Ramsay . . . Carl Voss sounds like a Bond villain.

We also had a monopoly on crappy guys named Yaremchuk.

his post reminds me of this

That's a lot of questions but I'll answer as best as I can. First of all, Kudos to you for even knowing that there IS a difference!!

Miss USA is mostly about looks. There are three phases of competition all weighted equally - evening gown, swimsuit and interview.

Miss America is more about the total package. There are five phases of competition - Talent at 35%, Interview at 25%, Evening Gown at 20%, Swimsuit at 15% and On Stage Question at 5%.

There are three things that really make the Miss America system different...there is a talent portion, the interview is much more intense and, most importantly, it provides millions of dollars in scholarships not only to the winners, but runner ups, preliminary winners, etc. every year.

Neither system is necessarily "better" than the other. They are just different. There are girls that are successful only in one system, but there are many that crossover and are successful in both.

Hope this explains it

seems to be forgotten.

keefe players a different and better system has a lot better spin to it. the owners of the leafs have told us so through the media they own, so it must be true.

but proof is in the pudding. the team has gone from a top possession team under babcock to below average under keefe.

- Tumbleweed

Small sample size I realize, but I thought that the possession stats were better so far under Keefe?

yup. by the look of the injury, it's almost as if they are purposely putting him on ltir to add some depth to the roster for the upcoming road trip; while sacrificing talent.

stinks of desperation.

That's a true stat. It also depends on what we want to count. Top-3, or Top-4, the Leafs are way above comparables. Top-6, it's not that far off - but the Leafs are still the highest.

The Leafs' top 6 eats up 61.9% of the cap. Pittsburgh's 2015 roster had a top-6 that ate 59.1%.

If we could apply that 3% variance in cap dollars, it would be about $2.36m which is probably not that far off from how much Mitch & Auston are overpaid.

Huh? Again cool.

The leafs were a 106 and 100 point team and were projected to to be around there again.

Many of those “failure” teams had no such projections or success years prior.
