My biggest issue with mm is that he’s weird looking. All tall and skinny and poop. Jarry looks like a normal person.

I've been singing Jarry's praises for quite a while, but this is still a small sample size. This is EXACTLY what Murray looked like when made his late season entry into the NHL.

This is EXACTLY what happened last year with DeSmith and Murray. DeSmith was top-ten in the league in GAA and SV% and everyone was calling for Murray's trade, then Murray comes back and is lights out.

Patience is key. His RFA rights would still be quite valuable. That being said, this is Jarry's net to lose right now.

How's this for a sample size: In the last 15 months of hockey (over 3+ years), Murray has played well in just 6 months of that time. He gets injured a lot. He's not athletic. Goalies are volatile. There is a salary cap to consider with other needs on the team. He still has trade value.

PS: Trading Kessel was a good thing. The same may very well be true with Murray.

Murray doesn’t suck, however he’s not as good as those rings and his pretentious attitude would suggest. It’s just his recently almost gifted Stanley cup rings that other owners and gms will be after.

Haha, Murray kind of has a Ric Ocasek (RIP) thing going on whereas Jarry looks like a 14 year old.

Just like Feds, if you're going to be condescending, why do you bother replying? Feel free not to reply to me in the future and I'll do the same. If you can't treat people with respect over a stupid hockey discussion board, then I don't want to have anything to do with you. Have a nice life.

Glad to see Tocchet is doing well in Arizona. They have a solid team and seem to be well-coached.

Reporter”you let in 4 goals tonight on 20 shots, you can’t be happy with that”

MM. “I played a great game, the Defense might have limited them to 20 shots but the were good ones. I really don’t make mistakes.”

wienerheadedness then.

Is New Jersey even looking for a goaltender? I see that Blackwood's numbers are bad. Are they bad due to his play or the play of his defense in front of him? I just read an article that stated he is playing well and they have a more pressing need to address the defense.

Blackwood played very well against us. It seems he is their goaltender of the future. At least for the moment anyway.

I was gonna say something like this earlier, the Devil's have way more problems than goaltending.

Just curious, it seemed on TV that the ovation started out just smattering and then built to more of a hearty ovation, almost out of duty. Maybe I'm reading too much into it haha. Maybe people were focused on the video.
- Hockey66

Yep...people were watching the video. It was a really strong standing ovation. It would have lasted longer but they eventually had to drop the puck. I think Phil was a little surprised.

Jarry was tremendous. Especially in the third. Murray would have lost that game. Jarry made some saves that Murray has been leaking in. I don't even want to pile on Murray, but damn, some of those games last month were such a let down.

Word for word no. But that’s basically the translation if he would just say it straight. Instead of like a pretentious bumhole. It was awhile ago, around the time the league caught up to the pens and the pens forward group wasn’t dominating everyone. The same time Murray was being called upon to make an extra save or two.

I’m not too familiar with the expansion rules, but if Murray is extended at all, then the pens would have to pick between keeping Murray or Jarry right? If that’s the case, they may have to be proactive and trade Murray or Jarry before next season to maximize their trade value. I feel like moving Murray at the draft would be the best move if Jarry keeps doing well and Desmith continues to be solid in WBS.

Well, I see the MAF lovers are out in full force dancing on MM's grave. As as a fan who supported Murray, he has been awful at times this year and last year for that matter but just remember because Murray stinks/sucks right now does not change two things:

1. Pens were right to keep Murray over MAF.

2. MAF still sucked badly for the most part of six consecutive playoff years and the Pens only won when he did not play much of the 2016 playoffs.

All this trade talk really just makes me excited for the first time the pens get pushed around so bad physically that JR trades for grit and toughness the next day.

Did you see the vid of Geno skipping MM at the bench after he scored in that comeback win against Van? It may have been nothing but looked intentional.

I’m glad Sully is riding the hot hand right now. I know Jarry is gonna have a bad night eventually but hopefully it gets MM out of his own head and back to saving pucks.

Capfriendly.com has a page that addresses the protection rules. It is still too early to know what direction any team will go.

It is fairly safe to assume there will not be three goaltenders better than Murray/Jarry. So what will the Pens do? Again too early to make a determination. The best option is too just let things play out this year. Let's assume Petterson continues his development and the Pens get a stud LD, that would open Petterson to the draft. Now if you trade one of Murray/Jarry you lose Petterson.

The only certainty is they are going to lose one goalie, how will depend on how both Petterson and Jarry continue their development. Not to mention how future trades play out.
