Good riddens.

TIOPS mentioned talks of a possible Galchenyuk/Vesey swap. If that actually happened I’d be ecstatic.

Yea that would work!

Both TOR at PIT are right at the cap (Pens have about $1.5M of wiggle room) so any trade would have to be almost equal. DeSmith + Galch for Nylander would work but I doubt TOR wants to do that and then we would be screwed cap-wise next year.

We've got about 3M, they're just running a 25-26 man roster with all the injuries.

Next year we will arrange a Yahoo fantasy league for all Pens followers here.

I play it for the first year, and trading / waiver action is a lot fun... hell, i recently even had to drop MM (in favor of Jarry) in two leagues.

Same here. I tried to figure out a trade for Nylander and Kapanen but couldn't come up with anything. They can't really afford to get rid of any defensemen without taking one back, so it doesn't seem like a fit there, either, unless we're talking about something like JJ + DeSmith for Muzzin.

Leafs only have 1D singed past this season and only 8F's....They have 3 players making about $11m+ Nylander at about $7.....I would think they're gonna need to shed some salary for next season.

Is Marner really worth $11m?

Well, you have to give to get and they are our best trade chips. We likely have 2-3 years left of "the window" (including this season) so if we want to acquire a "difference-maker," I think we'll need to trade a goalie. The rest of our tradeable/expendable players (Galch, Horny, Bjug, ZAR, JJ, etc.) don't have much value (or neutral/negative value).

Do you think we need a winger and/or defenseman to compete with Boston and Washington this year? I think we need both. Maybe JR can work some magic and acquire top 6 and top 4 without trading a goalie, but that probably means draft picks and prospects.

Here's the thing... I don't want to give Murray 7+ mil and I don't know what they have yet in Jarry. Sure he's been incredible so far, but it's entirely possible he flames out at some point. I want the rest of the year to evaluate him and I want to keep Desmith in case of a serious injury.

I love this team as constructed now. I'd like to add a LD first and foremost and I'd use the pick and prospect route. I honestly don't think we need to go big game hunting. I'd also consider a RW too.....just depends on the cost. If the Pens were healthy, I seriously think we'd have 4 or more wins. Hell, if Murray doesn't have a nightmare November, I think we'd have 2 or 3 more wins with just average tending.

I agree on not giving Murray $7+M, I'm not concerned about serious injury this year so I'd be fine with trading DeSmith, and I'd also focus on LD. I would like us to add at least top 4 LD and a top 6 RW. Not necessarily huge names but guys that will move the needle. I worry about what BOS and WAS will do to improve and make them that much better than us.

Must not be many players is there ?...I always played a 16 team pool and there's no f'n way you'd drop Murray in that one ....Jarry would probably be drafted as well ...usually by the person who drafted MM...but sometimes people have foresight...or luck...and snag a back up in the draft who ends up taking over #1 either by their own play or an injury to #1. With MMs injury history a smart drafter would go for Jarry as well if they drafted MM in a previous round. Having both goalies usually ensures you'll always meet the minimum required goalie starts for every week as well.

I play 10 or 12 player cash leagues with ~3 lines, 16 is a little too crowded for me.
Indeed it seems normally a good strategy to have both goalies.

With 16 the free agents and waivers are slim pickings, especially so after a few months when injuries around the league have piled up. You have to draft or trade well.

What's DeSmith worth? Not that much IMO. If he's part of a package deal, sure, trade him. I'd like to keep him for injury and/or next season, but I'd still part with him if needed. Bottom line for me.... Jarry isn't going anywhere and I honestly don't know the value of MM these days. His November was putrid. Is his trade stock taking a hit? I have no idea but my gut tells me it likely has. Hopefully we ride that competition all season and reap a nice return on one of them at the draft.

We're in agreement on the types of players, but I'd prefer to deal using other resources. We've got a handful of decent prospects and most of our picks (no 2nd or 7th). It should be plenty to get what we want.

Good points. Should be interesting to see what JR has cooking...
