Georgiev has started 12 games, lundqvist has started 17.......seems pretty "platoony" to me - haywoodjablome
For this season. Let see how this season goes. You cant expect teams to view him as a started quality goalie after 12 games in one season, as he has always been a backup to this point. Not comparitive to Andersen at all.
No team is giving up a top 6 player for Gorgiev, thats a pipe deam. |

to be fair, the original poster said Georgiev + for a top six player
using leafs as an example, something like Georgiev and a 2nd for kapanen is a decent trade that helps both teams |

The leafs want to be better
They aren’t trading a top 6 player for a backup.
That’s a pipe dream that’s never going to happen for any team. |

Plug in Engvall and see what he can do.
Edit:looks like Aberg is getting a shot.

Not even close. No one is giving up a a 20 goal 40 point player for a backup goaltender and a second round pick IMO. It would have to be more then that. |

I'm assuming Columbus will retain some of Seth Jones' salary, or else the deal doesn't work. |

How muxch shoul a guy in 2016 have gotten with those stats? It's weird having people spin it that he could have gotten 10+ MILLION but took far less... - RogerRoeper
mac's contract back then was fair. he traded some upside for security. the team is now benefiting from a great value. a fair deal for both sides.
leafs got hit with monster caphits in the short-term (including nylander's $10M caphit in year 1!!!). mitch money and capt underpants are paid to be +100 point well rounded players; which they are not. at best, the team gets a couple years of good value at the end and a few years of overpayments. the term is too short and dollars to be high to ever be great value contracts. players got everything and the team got no benefit.

Not that it means much to the Leafs

But the obvious example team is STL, fire the coach in Nov after dissapointing start.

the big difference is berube had actual head coaching experiencing in the nhl.
keefe is too green for a mid-season hire. he needs to learn the job while improving the team. he is set-up to fail.
keefe should have been a april-ish type hire. |

I thought Pontus wasn’t given a proper look in camp, chalked it up to Babs not liking him.

He had a good run playing next to Getzlaf and Rakell. Like 10 goals in 20 games? That is off memory.
Worth a shot. I like the idea of plugging skilled guys in instead of changing all the lines. I was thinking Engvall but Aberg has earned a look. |
