You must be a Devils fan.

Nope......This all depends on if Hall signs of course. The pick is a given and a crap shoot, especially later in the round. Wahlstrom is no guarantee, great shot and hands, but needs to learn the game, should be top 6 player. Wilde is raw, but tons up upside, and Leddy need to clear cap space for Barzal's deal and need to play Dobson. Then bring up aho for 7th D Man.

And Hall is great friend's with Eberle

Hall to Boston for Ritchie, Backes and Moore.
- shoreorrpark

Wouldn't work. NJ can't afford to house all those feral Russian trash dogs Backes took home from Sochi.

To Dallas: Taylor Hall (with contract negotiated beforehand)

To NJ: Jamie Benn

Taylor and Tyler are the new Thornton and Marleau. Stars get the shakeup their office has been threatening while getting a proven scoring threat, while getting younger.

The Devils get a proven leader to help coach their young team and provide stability with the cap and in the locker room.

New Jersey receives:
Nick cousins
Noah Juulsen
Karl Alzner
2020 1st MTL
2020 2nd MTL
2021 3rd CHI

Montreal Receives:
Taylor Hall
2020 4th BOS

Under the condition hall signs after trade. Price is high but that is needed to offload Alzners contract. With no sign and trade take off Alzner, MTL 1st and the BOS 4th.

I have to agree with you....when people propose deals with Carey Price, Hornquist, and JVR as the principal players...yeesh. I included Okposo but the main cogs were Mittelstadt and a 1st. (with a little cookie thrown in for taking Okposo)
- ThundernLightning

I absolutely get what you did and it's certainly not the worst trade on here. It's really a matter of whether Shero thinks Middlestadt is going to be a player or not. I was a big fan but he hasn't developed as expected. Also as a C, it's hard to figure where he'd slot in. If he turns out to be something they can figure that out later. The idea of taking someone like Okposo back for a sweetener is definitely something the Devils should consider depending on how much is left to be paid for a guy that ends up on the third or fourth line. I'm too lazy to look up his contract but I get the idea.

The one that gets my vote as MOST ridiculous is the one for Jamie Benn straight up.

With JVR a close 2nd.

Hes got 2 nore after this year, let him play one and buy him out..or just buy him out.

The reason I offered Mittelstadt and not Cozens is I cant see Hall resigning here.

Mittelstadt is only 20. Really only the ELITE are ready at 20. Hes played 110 NHL games. We wouldnt give up on Dahlin after 110, so I wouldn't give up on CM yet either, despite trading him. Lol

To New Jersey:

Carey Price
Ryan Poehling
Victor Mete
Conditional 2019 2nd Round Pick (Chicago) (Upgrades to first if Montreal wins Stanley Cup)

To Montreal:

Taylor Hall (With pre-negotiated extension)
Will Butcher
Ty Smith

On New Jersey's side, this addresses their need for goaltending by acquiring one of the top goaltenders on the planet and a much-needed blue-chip forward prospect with the potential for a first-round pick.

For Montreal, giving up Price is a double-edged sword (losing a top-tier goalie but shedding his contract), but Cayden Primeau's surge to the NHL shows that the team has depth at the position. This is, of course, contingent on the fact that Keith Kinkaid is, in fact, an NHL backup and can provide the support Primeau needs.

It also addresses the weak left defense for Montreal both now (Butcher) and in the future (Smith).

That's an absolutely terrible trade, even if he signs.

Mark Stone, with an extension, only cost a 2nd, a top prospect, and a bottom six roster player. You're throwing in two of our three or four best prospects (admittedly, neither is as highly-regarded as Brannstrom...but they're still up there), a 1st round pick in a deep draft, and a very valuable defenseman on an affordable deal.

That trade would be a disaster for the Islanders. I think you're grossly undervaluing Leddy.

It's not a matter of grossly underestimating Leddy he is replaceable by Dobson, need cap space. 2 prospects Wilde and Wahlstrom and hopefully the pick is #31.

He's not replaceable by Dobson at all. Dobson has played 7 NHL games. He might be replaceable by Dobson in two or three years, but not now.

Dumping valuable assets for cap space is a terrible way to operate. If they need to clear a spot for Dobson that bad, they can move Mayfield easily. He's a good third pairing guy and is signed for under $1.5M for three more seasons after this one. He's marketable.

Hall and Stone should, in theory, fetch about the same return. Hall is significantly more offensively talented, but Stone is a mile ahead of him in terms of all-around talent. They're opposite players but I'd value them about the same, more or less.

Flames get Hall (with a deal worked out that he is signed right after the trade - like the Vegas - Stone trade) and a 3rd round pick 2020.

NJ gets 2020 1st (protected), J. Pelletier (2019 1st Round Pick), Kylington, Frolik (need to make room for Hall's contract-salary dump but still a serviceable player).

I wouldnt bite at that but at least its filled mostly with picks and true prospects.

I just dont like the protected first as I dont think either of those guys are blue chip enough or not quite Brannstroms quality.

Dobson is way ahead of his age. Toews' speed and shot makes Leddy replaceable. Would keep Mayfield at his price, need to pay Barzal, Pulock, Toews and then pay Sorokin. Need to make cap space and have to give to get.

You keep bringing up Stone, that for one was at deadline, if get Hall now, more than half the season left, and Brannstrom is better than Wilde by a mile and again Wahlstrom is no guarantee. Plus every year is different. Get Hall now, get him acclimated and win the division and go for the Cup!

Ghost / Patrick / Jake & 1st in 2020... He must sign extension first though...

This would save the club money and add a top 6 player w/ new term.

- Shredder1976

Philly doesn't wants Jake's contract on NO one else does either NO ONE!
