As a Devil's fan, I am finding it hard to pick between some of these offers. If this is somewhat close to what Shero will have to deal with, I do not envy him.

I dont know do you mean he has a lot of good deals to choose from ? Its a lot of cap dumps, conditional picks and B prospects. There have been a few that included higher end prospects but still only that teams 2nd or third best chip.

Bennett really seems like he is going to be a disappointment for where he was drafted and neither of those d blow me away as the center piece but if that first is unconditional it could be interesting.

Can the potential team talk with Hall's agent about a potential extension before the trade? If so...

Devils trade Hall.

Penguins trade Patric Hornqvist, Tristan Jarry, Jack Johnson with 50% salary retained, 1st round pick.

Gives the Devils a roster player in Hornqvist, and with salary retained a bottom pair defender in Johnson, high end prospect/early NHLer that helps their goalie situation with Jarry, and a 1st. As a Pens fan I'd hate seeing Jarry go but may be enough to entice the Devils to take Johnson off their hands.

I disagree. The Poehling trade without Price and the trades including Walhstrom have all been great.

Name one player who has ever led a team out of the basement.
- Rev

There are several, but most notably, Mario Lemieux. The Penguins rosters in the first 5 or 6 years were horrendous, and the Penguins didn't fare too badly. More wins than losses. There were a last place team when he arrived, and starting in his sophomore season, they were among the top 16 teams in the league every year. Many will ignorantly point to the fact that they missed the playoffs those years, but that was much more due to the playoff format than what Mario did for those teams. They finished as high as 12th, in a league where 16 teams made the playoffs, but did not, because 4 teams per division made it, and it was a powerhouse division.

To put it in perspective, they went from a 38 point team that got outscored in the region of about 150 goals on the season, to a team that outscored their opposition, and had 40ish more points per season with little to no significant improvement other than adding Mario Lemieux.

We don't know what would happen with other greats, like Gretzky, because the situation never presented itself. Crosby and Malkin saw huge leaps, but they also had some other decent talent.

the true greats have absolutely pulled their team out of the basement, and when you get more than one great young player on a team, like Sid and Malkin, it's a near guarantee you'll no longer be a basement team.

Never. How can you think a rebuilding team wants to take on two over thirty players who arent anywhere near the players they where just to get a goalie who hasnt even fully established himself as a number 1 in the NHL?

Yeah his numbers are good but they arent certain to be that way next year or the year after. I would need to see a lot longer track record off success then that.

We should be getting multiple firsts for that package. I also would argue that Blackwood is good enough just plays on a team that makes him look poop.

Also on two occasions Hynes left him in for complete shellings when any other coach would have made a change. Two seperate occassions he left him in last year for 7 goals and he still managed to come away with a 919 sv % I wouldnt be trading Hall for a goalie unless it was Gibson and understandibly there would need to be an extension in place for that to be remotely close value wise.

Trust me, I watch JG 82 games each year... hes not the better player. His game is getting old in the Western Conference and teams are wise to his act now and his little loop he will try and do when he gets into the zone.

I would take someone like Hall 9/10 he plays with a bit more give a FU*K

Vancouver and New Jersey as trade partners for Hall:

New Jersey gets:
Loui Eriksson (the salary dump)
1st (the sweetener, acknowledging Tampa is still owed a 1st as well)
Mike DiPietro - (the high upside prospect)
Olli Juolevi - (the often injured prospect with good upside)
Troy Stetcher - (the roster player)

Vancouver gets:
Taylor Hall sign and trade at market value
2nd round pick in same year as Van 1st.

Vancouver wants a guaranteed contract with Hall before the trade is consummated, and to potentially lower the AAV with an 8 year term. Assuming 8 Years at 9 per

I want to give New Jersey a good goalie and some defensive options that are young enough to grow with the team and relatively cost controlled. Eriksson would have to go to make this conversation even start I believe.

I am wary about Vancouver sending another good goalie to New Jersey though, since Brodeur goalies in new Jersey appear to have been cured, or mishandled.

Imo the devils have addressed their goaltending needs in season and wont be doing so again. If they did though my guess would be it would be in the off season as they arent going to trade Hall and continue building through the draft just to go ahead and send assits for a goalie you hope might come in steal some wins and push the team the 12th.

With the team looking to move Hall they arent going to be trying to get out of the basement this year. They will be stocking for the future with the best picks they can get their hands on.
