To New Jersey:
Carey Price
Ryan Poehling
Victor Mete
Conditional 2019 2nd Round Pick (Chicago) (Upgrades to first if Montreal wins Stanley Cup)
To Montreal:
Taylor Hall (With pre-negotiated extension)
Will Butcher
Ty Smith
On New Jersey's side, this addresses their need for goaltending by acquiring one of the top goaltenders on the planet and a much-needed blue-chip forward prospect with the potential for a first-round pick.
For Montreal, giving up Price is a double-edged sword (losing a top-tier goalie but shedding his contract), but Cayden Primeau's surge to the NHL shows that the team has depth at the position. This is, of course, contingent on the fact that Keith Kinkaid is, in fact, an NHL backup and can provide the support Primeau needs.
It also addresses the weak left defense for Montreal both now (Butcher) and in the future (Smith). - kryoung20
Price is a cap dump as tough as it might be to hear he us over 30 and losing his game if it isnt lost at all.
Then you want arguably our best d prospect and want to give us a center prospect when We have Nico, Jack, Zacha, Mcleod and bastian all who play center. Then the first is conditionally on you guys winning the cup which wont happen it really makes this a hard no. |

Could you imagine having both Schneider and Price under contract at the same time thats like almost 20 million dollars tied into brutal goaltending. |

I respectfully disagree. If you've watched any Montreal games this season, you would know that Price has been better than his numbers suggest. The Canadiens have played terribly defensively in front of him lately.
As for the centers, you can never have too many and McLeod hasn't really seemed to be able to put it together at the NHL level. Zacha also seems to play the wing more than center. However, for the purpose of this exercise, we can swap Poehling for someone like Joel Armia or Tomas Tatar. |

He plays behind a Shea Weber thats playing the best hockey of his life. He would literally never save the puck again behind our defense and now you are sending us older players.
We are rebuilding man Ray wants youre best prospect not 2nd or 3rd or he wants high firsts. |

Ghost / Patrick / Jake & 1st in 2020... He must sign extension first though...

That's certainly plan A & if Shero works it hard enough (no not a sex pun) you should get it for a quality talent who is not yet over the hill. |

I feel like Buffalo should be more concerned about stopping goals rather than scoring them. - Rinosaur

I hope you arent referring to those players that are aged 24 to 26 that will never be more then 5-6 dman or top 9 forward then I have to disagree.
The devils im sure dont care if they get 5 pieces back for Hall or 1 they just want the best deal. Imo a high first or a first from a team with a chance of missing the play offs is more valuable then a couple pieces with limited ceilings. Yes you can completely miss on a pick but you can also hit a homerun and Ray needs to do whatever give him the best shot at hitting a home run not the safest package that brings in nhl players, but more of the same players that have been brought in and out for the past few years. |

Given the injuries, his age and the fact that he'll garner a double digit million dollar contract...
Pass.
Like the guy, but not worth 8x10+
Not saying I wouldn't love to have him in the lineup. Kid can fly. Just not for a decade. |
