Wondering if Dach puts on some muscle and maintains good balance, next year we can find him sometimes in the "Dach of the bay.' But he is a playmaker so only as opportunity presents itself is when he will park in front of the met.

I have a feeling we might see some bigger & better numbers from 12 & 19 after this game. Bring on the Devils.

Nah, he’ll finish the year with 14 goals and Dcat with 15, because that’s the pace they’re on. That is how it works, players never go on hot streaks, that’s not possible, it will never happen.

By the way, I missed the game tonight, how did Gilbert look? And why under 10 minutes of ice time for Kubalik?

Maybe he needs to do one of these articles for each player. Didn’t get to watch last night but nice to see them snap the losing streak.

Funny, I heard something eerily similar from f.w.f. last night.

Gilbert was steady, nothing flashy. Threw his weight around, which makes him effective. There was actually a good deal of penalties called so no pk & I don't think any pp time for Kubalik. He's got wheels, battles along the boards, & has a good shot. I'd like to see his time increase.

Yes - saved by not hitting Pasta’s head. They never call jumping up without that.

It was no worse than what happens on about 50 % of checks. I had the Boston feed, and you should have heard their announcers. I think the quote was "That wasn't intended to take Pasta out of the play, it was to take him out of the game!" They act like it was Torres on Hossa.

I watched the game and didn't notice Gilbert. That's a good thing, and I wasn't drunk.

The guy that impressed me was Coo Coo, several times he won board battles deep in our zone along the end boards. And he had enough speed to take the puck and skate it up and out of trouble. No passes up the middle either, played safe and smart. I'd like to see more of that.

He's got enough speed (IMO, he has more speed than Gus) to be able to do that. Just wonder if, given more ice time, he's able to continue that kind of play (or god forbid, go on an upward trend). Sure did not seem intimidated by the physical play last night.

Smith is not fast, but I like his overall game as a 3rd or 4th liner. I like Carpenter's game too. Once Caggiula comes back that is a very good 4th line (and they are all PK contributors).

I would like to see Kubalik play with Toews and Saad or Nylander on the 2nd line. Nylander may develop into a top 6 player, but for now I think Kubalik's 200' game is much better than Nylander.

I was disappointed that only a few players upped their physical game last night. If you watch Boston, virtually every player takes the man. Almost all of the Hawks stand next to their man and try to win a stick battle. When were getting excited about the Hawks about 10 games ago, they were playing a more physical game, winning board battles, clearing the crease, standing in front of the opponents net.

The Hawks should have a jar in the locker room, and every time someone tries a back handed cross ice pass in their own zone that gets intercepted they put $100 (or $500 or $1000) that goes to Blackhawk charities. It is just ridiculous how often they do that.

I am with you Savvy. K4 has some skills, offensively and defensively, and plays a physical game on the boards and in the crease. He does not take ridiculous chances pinching at the offensive blueline. And when he is caught out of position he does not linger there. He hustles to get back in position. Finally he blocks shots instead of intentionally jumping out of the way (ala Gus).

The only time I noticed Gilbert was on Boston's third goal. He left Krug so he could hit Pasta. Pasta just passed it around Gilbert, took the hit, and we had a tie game.

Seabs left his man open in front of Lehner to hit a guy BEHIND the net ... you know, prime goal scoring area. I was fine with the hit from Gilbert (no lavender sniffers) more guys were over in the corner for both teams. It was Seabs I yelled at.

He left the spot open so that Nylander’s man (Krug) could get to it with an open look on Lehner.

They do that too often - seems to me (watching on TV, so I admit I don’t see it as the players do) that Seabrook should have seen what was going on in front of him - Nylander below the line and out of the play, Gilbert below the line, why would he be “third man in” below the line?

They seem to not understand where to be in too many situations.

I wonder if they are taught strength in numbers along the boards, or if they really don't see the play & just leave their positions? I understand kids learning the game, but the vet on the line ought to know better.

This Gus hate sometimes makes no sense.
Take a look back at that late power play.
-Hawks have a 2 goal lead
-there are only 6 min left in the game
-a safe power play without a goal takes 2 more minutes off the clock
So why are we running a power play with 4 men deep allowing a 2 on 1 rush with a lone defenceman left hung out to dry? This a team and coaching error. No matter which defenceman you have out here, the other team has just been given a good chance to score and get back into the game.

Yes. That is why I liked the hit by smith. Warrant a penalty, maybe...but good physical play.
That whole sequence, I thought, by BOTH teams is how "Winning" hockey is played, and played with honor.
1. The hit was a good physical hit...check mark for Hawks.
2. It was against a Bruin star, so Moore comes in to challenge the hit...check mark for Bruins.
3. Smith answers the call. And, after delivering a solid punch, backs off the damaged Bruin....check mark hawks again.

The whole sequence was solid. Solid hit. Teammate stinking up for hit. Fight over when "Knock-out" punch delivered.

Even at end, Pastrnak patting Moore on back for "Taking one for the team".

THIS is hockey. Hawks need more of this. Bruins have it (that's why they contend). We show signs from time to time. Let's have more of this. Not goonery, not even necessarily fighting...but physical play and ALWAYS sticking up for your teammate!!!

I just rewatched it several times. Nylander knocked the puck away from Krug in the corner. The puck rolled into the corner near Pasta. Nylander followed the puck. Gilbert took Pasta and inadvertently boxed Nylander in the corner. The puck slid over to Debrusk behind the goal line and Seabs went to take him. Glibert stayed with Pasta. Krug was able to slip out and go to the net. Toews was covering the back side and Saad was late coming down to take the extra man. Probably unfortunate that Nylander got boxed in.

Every check mark is true there. But got a feeling that won’t happen until Bowman is out of there.
He is destined to go thru 100 European prospects to create the next Zetterberg, Datzuk, Lidstrom(Gus??😂😂) Fedorov ect.,for his dad.
Billy Zito a candidate for GM?

I’m sorry to sound repetitive but need kids like either of the Tkachuk boys or Tom Wilson to get that ball rolling.until then just roll with what you have and hope they can turn it around.

Lastly, I hope Mark Crawford is spared , seems like since that era he turned it around , seems like the kids like him, Repeating good for Robin Lehner to come out and take a stance on this crap. Even Sean Avery to an extent. Times are changing, give em all a chance to show their worth. I was A Danny Carcillo fan for what he brought on the ice but sometimes I wonder what the hell he is thinking with some of his rants. The Hawks were willing to help set him up post retirement with his foundation but I don’t think so anymore. I think they severed that.

Well that was a surprise in a good way. Need to fire my Eight Ball for saying "It is Certain" for the 5-2 B's win.

Gilbert was -2 last night and it -5 for the year playing limited minutes. He needs to learn when not to be caught out of position when hitting but heck I like how he plays and is something the Hawks need on the backend as a 5-6 DMan.

On that play there was a heck a lot wrong. An ill-advised hit, Seebs being out of position and the hit causing Nylander to lose his man (which he might have let go anyway).

The game had me thinking good teams find ways to win games and bad teams find ways to lose them. Happy the Hawks won though.

Agree. When they play the umbrella on the PP, Gus is in the center at the blueline. Toews and ADB are on the half boards. One in front of the net one below the goal line. In this situation (up 2 in the 3rd period) it would make sense to have a dman on each point (especially if the one dman out there is Gus).

Having said that... Gus did fall and Toews was making every effort to tie up the other man on the back side. If Gus had not tripped it would have been a tough play for the Wagner to score or pass to Kuraly (and if he passed to Kuraly Toews may have bothered him enough to make it hard for Kuraly to score.
