It is frustrating to see a guy have to fight after a clean check. The check on Hughes was 100% clean. Why does Gilbert have to fight? Either make it no checking or quit (frank)ing fighting after a clean hit.

Technically he didn't have to fight after a clean hit. Gilbert and Simmonds tangled a bit later. Gilbert did okay for a cage wearing college boy.

I'm sure it ate up JC to send Dach out there before Kampf. 😂😂

TBF, some of us on this board would have never traded for Kimmo or Rundblad. Not to mention the bums Danault was wasted to acquire.

Your opinion stated. You don't like it. It annoys you. But the players who actually play in THE NHL don't seem to have an issue with it. I'm sure the players on both teams tonight didn't have an issue with it. I'm sure Hughes was "annoyed" by Simmonds response. It a part of hockey. Don't like it don't watch it. Watch a college game instead. Solved.

That wasnt even a big hit on Hughes so I agree that the hit likely had little to do with it other then it gave two tough boys a chance to scrap.

Imo they where going to have at it wether that hit was made or not. Two boys with aggressive personalities fighting for time and space and they had already clashed earlier so it was going to happen if it kept up like that all night!

Im also pretty sure Gilbert tossed his gloves off first.

Maybe you can write to Bettman and request that this absurdity of sticking up for your teammates (which will always be in the game) in order to appease your snowflake annoyance with it.

Going after someone for a clean check is NOT sticking up for your teammates. They may as well be starting fights over losing a faceoff. Your inability to comprehend what the argument is (it's NOT about "sticking up for your teammates", it's about the perversion of going after someone for playing clean hockey) tells me this discussion is likely futile.

Also, your idea that "it will always be part of the game" is very naive to suggest if you've watched major sports for any length of time. You may want it to be part of the game, but much like wearing no helmets eventually dinosaurs go extinct. I guess we can then weep for the glory days of busted heads and meaningless fights and opine to our grandkids how snowflakes ruined our once proud, tough sport of hockey. LOL

He’s has imagination with the puck - lot better then watching Strome plow straight ahead with a long distance wrist shot that hands play over to the opposition-
