People said (not sure if you did) the same stuff about the heartless, gutless Hawks throughout their Cup era. Somehow they did okay.

After the game, they say "oh, sorry, my bad, Dach's hit was clean. Sorry he's got a concussion from the fight, but I really thought it was a dirty hit at the time. I hope he's ok."

How about this - let the refs decide what is legal. If it was a dirty hit, stand up for your guy at a later point.

Kane's game is also one of playing the periphery and coming into high contact areas at the exact right time in most cases when no one sees him and is unable to lay a hit on him. Gretzky was the best at it, Kane does a damn good job himself. Other players live in high contact areas and take a beating. One reason why we see Toews on a hard downward trend in his career and Kane still playing at a high level is the amount of punishment Toews has taken over the years.

And this isn't a slight against Kane, he played his role perfectly over the years.

as much as i hate Dan Bernstein.....he said that exact thing 10 years ago or so. Toews may be the better player than Kane back then...but he plays such a physical game that he is just going to deteriorate so much quicker thank Kane and that Kane will outlast him playing at a high level. Probably the only thing Ive heard out of Bernstein that I respected and agreed with

I am talking bottom 6 (maybe 4th line) with Carp, Shaw, Smith. Having a player like Wilson would be great. But he is playing top 6 minutes in Washington and his cap hit is more than $5 mil per year. I would like a player like Lindros or O'Reilly too. But that is comparing apples and oranges.

I think there are plenty of teams that would take deHaan and/or Murphy in their 2nd pairing defenders. Toronto comes to mind immediately.

Smith would be a whole lot better if he he would stop trying to make soft ass plays with the puck. He makes me nervous every time he tries to make a play.
