Well KK is a 3rd overall pick, technically he projects into being a first line centre despite a difficult 2nd season.
Caufield looks pretty damn amazing.
Suzuki is great.
Poehling, Brooks, Primeau just started their pro career and aren't half bad.
Why would we move Weber? Mr. Wheelchair is on his way to his most productive season ever and Carey is still goddamn amazing despite what the stats say (no one can survive that 143% high danger chances raise, no one).
So yeah, I dare say the future looks just fine for the Habs. Just gotta keep at it and not overpay anyone to leave room for the team to grow. - Scabeh
A year ago I’d laugh at this..
But there’s really something to be said about not getting into cap issues. Many Leafs fans are in denial about that.
They can’t handle losing. It’s the NHL, it’s a very good league that you can’t just get by with skill alone. They will realize that.
Mackinnon was the most talented 60 point player in the league for 4 years until he figured it out. - Santo_44
His dominance also corresponded immediately with Duchene being traded out town. Might have been coincidence. I personally don't believe in coincidence tho.

Duchene better believe it them because everywhere he goes, despite him producing, the team starts sucking.

You are aware Willy's #'s are actually better than Mckinnon's through their first 4 years, right? It's amazing how everything is forgotten. Mckinnon had a great first 40 games in his rookie season and then plateud for 3 years. - RogerRoeper
do you ever NOT talk out of your ass
mackinnon first 4 years
300gp - 206pts - 0.69ppg
Nylander first 4 years
239gp - 162pts - 0.68ppg
wow, Nylander was definitely WAAAAAAYYYYYY better.

which just tilts it that much more towards Mackinnon being better....he put up better numbers at a younger age - haywoodjablome
People are going to come in here from other blogs and see us arguing about MacKinnon vs Nylander.
Thats why people think Leafs fans are the worst. To even somehow try to formulate an argument for Nylander being anywhere near MacKinnon, is absolutely absurd. It goes beyond any stupid thing a Nucks/Habs/Oilers fans would say.

Anyone who would even think about trading Matthews at the ripe old age of 22 is (frank)ing stupid. Even struggling his numbers are decent. Its not going to stay that way forever ffs. Plus they just went thru a coaching change. New systems to learn, new line combos and a bunch of of other poop. Even guys on HNIC were saying that it will take till the 10-15 game mark for Keefe to actually start to see results. Plus Matthews for Jones, are you (frank)ing kidding me. There better be a lot of +++ added with Jones to even remotely come close to getting Matthews....
