The line-up is too top heavy in salary and it was given to 3/4 of players who just left their teens a few years ago.

But the best really is to come for them and the future looks promising.

For years we whined on about a lack of a true #1 centre and always getting middle of the road draft picks. We finally get our franchise C with the 1st overall pick and some fans are clamoring for him to get traded because he (along with the rest of the team) has not lived up to expectations this year.

Toronto trades Matthews and he goes on to light up the league for years to come. Every other fan laughs at the Leafs until eternity.

It started with 2-3 guys, (at least one of them being a Hawks fan) and then it snowballed into a full fledged conversation about Leafs fans being crazy.

It was great.

I've been saying this since the Subban for Weber trade. Nashville will have to trade back for that contract at some point. It's a loaded gun to their head.

if those guys all had 8 year deals that their caphits more than justify then year 8 would be our year!

Well KK is a 3rd overall pick, technically he projects into being a first line centre despite a difficult 2nd season.

Caufield looks pretty damn amazing.

Suzuki is great.

Poehling, Brooks, Primeau just started their pro career and aren't half bad.

Why would we move Weber? Mr. Wheelchair is on his way to his most productive season ever and Carey is still goddamn amazing despite what the stats say (no one can survive that 143% high danger chances raise, no one).

So yeah, I dare say the future looks just fine for the Habs. Just gotta keep at it and not overpay anyone to leave room for the team to grow.
