Yes, we have plenty of 3 pairing d-men that have been benched for games this season.

That is what Gostisbehere has been. This year, and parts of last year, too.

Regardless, does Gostisbehere really make the Habs any better? And if so, better for what? Maybe getting closer to the playoffs and missing again? Or maybe even making the playoffs (unlikely)?

A Gostisbehere trade is not a game changer, unless there is a fundamental change in the way they are putting this team together as part of a series of bigger changes.

Otherwise it is throwing picks and prospects hoping a guy can be a decent player and not a cap killer for the next 4 years. If that is the case, I'd rather wait for Romanov or Brook to be ready.

Habs lost 8 games in a row and are still tied with the Leafs and have 2 games in hand. I thought things were back on track with Babpeanut gone.

Starting to think he was let go not because of the record, but because of what was coming out in the press.

You noticed over the course of ~30 games they're records are the same? It's like you're ignoring the part where the leafs lost 5 straight.

Oh wait... it's symba007

No, he was a corner in the evil coaches triangle.

But, the other might have held true also..

Once he got fired it became easy to poop on him. Writers sat on that Marner-lazy teammates story for almost 4 years. For what? To keep a press pass? None of these people are doing the hard thing now.

not sure what PHI would want in return. I guess one of Kulak or Reilly, to replace Gost at a cheaper price, than add something like a pick and a B prospect.
- fidopro

Philly would want a pick or two or a pick and a prospect with cap relief. They have a pretty good glut of young defensemen at the moment, but would be looking for someone to fill in at the blue line eventually. Hey, you can never have too many defensive prospects.

They have no use for Alzner, either.

Ghost should go to somebody who is close to competing and can afford a defenseman to just hunt the puck and create. Ask him to do too much on defense, and that spells trouble.

I imagine he would play limited minutes with Fleury at 5 on 5 and get a bulk of the powerplay time
