Oh, then that's a factor too.

So no Alzner then..

not sure what PHI would want in return. I guess one of Kulak or Reilly, to replace Gost at a cheaper price, than add something like a pick and a B prospect.

Yes, we have plenty of 65 pts defenseman

Petry is the perfect example of why this trade COULD be good, he was struggling in Edm and was said to be terrible liability...look at how that worked out

He's been a liability in the last 3 weeks

Expect Xavier Ouellet to get called up at 5p.m.

He's the most experienced defenseman they have in Laval right now and was just cleared to play after an injury that kept him sidelined for a few weeks

Send him to the ECHL for a conditioning stint first.

Yes, we have plenty of 3 pairing d-men that have been benched for games this season.

That is what Gostisbehere has been. This year, and parts of last year, too.

Regardless, does Gostisbehere really make the Habs any better? And if so, better for what? Maybe getting closer to the playoffs and missing again? Or maybe even making the playoffs (unlikely)?

A Gostisbehere trade is not a game changer, unless there is a fundamental change in the way they are putting this team together as part of a series of bigger changes.

Otherwise it is throwing picks and prospects hoping a guy can be a decent player and not a cap killer for the next 4 years. If that is the case, I'd rather wait for Romanov or Brook to be ready.

Otto Leskinen called up.

Maybe they felt Ouellet might be needing a few games to get back on track

Good for Leskinen, he was the Rocket's best defenseman in my opinion.

Intelligent puck mover with a good skating stride. Nothing flashy but he was effective in the games I saw him play.

drop your pants and go run circles around them very quickly, that will freak them out and they will shut up.

I'd be fine with trading for Ghost, but the return must be reasonable considering he's now seen as a risk with his contract.

This could turn into a grand slam if he goes back to his form from 2 years ago. Or it could be a disaster and another waste of 4.5M in cap space for the next 4 years.
