Yeah, I don't know how you dominate a 1st period so completely and then get completely wrecked the rest of the way. Looks like the Oilers of old are still in there. - MaximumBone
Oilers gonna have games like this were McJesus, Drai etc sucks, but as long they win the next two like they have been doing Oiles gonna be fine......But still need Bear with PP time |

Oilers need many things my friend.
And yes, despite the Oilers (as of now) impressive PP %, I too would like to see what Bear could fo given more opportunity. |

Draisaitl certainly appeared to be “playing down” tonight. Lot of lazy ass plays. |

I'd like to see them roll out two Dmen if that's the case. Chiasson still doesn't do it for me and, while Nuge is out, they've got a spare spot. However, Nuge will likely be back by next game so that chance is all but gone. |

I mean maybe dude, but he gets frustrated and kinda sulky. You’ve seen it before. Is what it is.
I do feel ya, but I’m totally apprehensive to ever bring him or 97 up as a kind of “cause” of tonight. They win so many games for us by themselves, a lack lustre performance isn’t just ok, it’s totally expected
Lost now to the kings, wild, wings, sens etc. This isn’t an aberration. It’s the oilers.
Hopefully Connor and Leon don’t fall into any prolonged struggles or we’re cooked cause we don’t have the forwards to pick up any of that slack

"We probably couldn't beat an AHL team tonight" Drai
I’m curious to see the response next game |

Klefbom now at -15 on the year (5 or 6 of which are empty netters). That's an atrocious number for a guy who's supposed to be our best Dman and it seems his slip in play coincides with the AHL assignment of one Joel Persson.
Tough to say how much impact luck has had on these numbers, but there's a pretty jarring gap here.
137 mins w/ Persson: 7GF/7GA
93 mins w/ Jones: 4GF/7GA
52 mins w/ Larsson: 1GF 6GA
I think we can now see a clear distinction here: Klefbom doesn't handle tough minutes well anymore and his supposed "chemistry" with Larsson has been overstated for too long. Time for that fantasy to die. He needs to go back to being the defensive presence on a soft minute pairing with Persson.
This isn't to defer all blame onto Klef; Larsson hasn't exactly been a ray of light since his return and Jones still makes too many mistakes. However, Klefbom is supposed to be our best (even though I'd contest that claim) and needs to be better. |

So this is your way of saying I was right about less minutes right? I don’t put it all on Klef but sadly numbers don’t lie.....I’m still a Klef fan tho

I find Klef this season slower and Larsson well he needs more time to get his game back cause right now he's not doing well at all.....Nurse/Bear have been so far the best...imo
But still need Bear PP time |

Those numbers startle me more than a little.
Are the sample sizes large enough to draw conclusions from though? |

he's got some games like that before but it doesn't mean he's been bad all season, Oilers are where they cause of them (75%)but poop games like today will happen again though. |

Further statement of fact: Darnell Nurse is our best defenseman and has been for a couple years now. Any suggestion that we trade him is extremely short-sighted and neglects the value he brings over and above what Klefbom does. Either keep Klefbom and play him a softer role or trade him and exploit his higher perceived value.
Come at me, Sean |
