Definitely, his rookie season he was doing well at both ends of the ice.. I recall some saying he'll be the next Kopitar/Toews but with more offensive ability.
I wonder if the change was because of Babcock or did Matthews just stop caring? - PatC80
Hard to say but 5 games with the new guy doesn't show care either. And let's be honest here. Not telling the club about the charges against him was a really really bad look. Very disrespectful. So maybe he's a Richard? |

Maybe he is, who knows.. I was hoping he would be dominating teams game in, game out. |

Hopefully Keefe torched the boys after last night... or is that considered abuse now? |

I like this setup. - Lucas.Neilson
I think this is better.. Hyman can provide a little defensive responsibility to o the line.. Plus in the small sample Marner and Mathews have not played well together.

Shore gone. Hope he does well with the Jets.
Honestly, Dubas is going to have to make a cap move and sooner than later.
I hate the idea that the naysayers are right about the back up position. - Aaron_85
At the beginning of the year a lot of guys were saying how unimportant the backup position was to defend the actions of Dubas. These days cup winning teams starters are playing 55 games. Thats 54 available points to the backup. It' huge. |

Dubas made the dressing room a safe space, and they all took turns taking about their feelings, in a non-judgemental atmosphere.
And you'd better believe there were soy lattes. |

I think the lack of scoring on the road also is an indicator of possible not caring. At home he gets the easier matchup so not playing as hard he can still produce, whereas on the road not playing as hard he can't produce as much because of stiffer competition. |

This team has read too many Hockeybuzz posts - they truly believe they have the talent to beat teams without working hard.
Spoiler alert: they don't. |

There are now reports coming out of Philly that Alain Vignault made practices mandatory - players had no say in whether or not they wanted to attend.
It's just a matter of time before he gets fired. |

Matthews scored against Arizona and Colorado on the road trip, but hasn't scored in the 4 games since. I hope it's just a mini slump and he snaps out of it tonight. |

We used to laugh at the Oilers. Now they finally realized they can win by working hard while the Leafs look like garbage. |

I bet that after every game Keefe asks the players if they are all in the right frame of mind to have an open discussion... |

Yup. He also really thought Matthews was 'generational'. Matthews can shoot the puck and has a lot of skill, but there are quite a few guys in the league like him and all of them make less money. - aminnes
there is a few who score at his rate at 5v5..actually since he came in the league he is #1 (or was last time I looked).
Its basically Ovechkin, who scores a ton more on the PP. and Ovechkin signed his deal for 16.82% of the cap

Ya he has a few lately. According to hockey reference:
Road:15gp 3g 7a -3
Home:14gp 13g 8a +7
Willy, although a -5 on the road has produced closer to equal in home/road splits. |
