Getting Marner back is good just hope he is really healed up well. High sprains are a pain in the ass.

We need Matthews to be better, and Marner to return. We need alot of things, but let's start with those - BestRapperAlive
Matthews and Nylander is starting to remind me of Edmonton when they gave RNH, Eberle and Hall big money deals out of entry. They were just as casual in they own end, and only cared about scoring. |

He needed to make trade to get rid of significant salary. Willy has produced to the point this season where he could probably get a reasonable return. It's time, and it's hard to see any other guy they could trade that would make a difference. - aminnes
Let's do it.
Melander is probably the most tradeable asset that would actually get a decent return. Gotta trade from a position of strength (scoring) to address a need (defenceman who can play defence). |

well... perhaps with the exception of Hall... Matthews is a far far more impactful player "potentially"..
but those Edmonton deals were pretty large when you think when they were signed... what the CAP was at the time - so similar in nature.

Matthews was quite impressive his rookie year skating back and making a difference defensively. He's regressed in that aspect a lot over the last year or so. |

it didn't work for edm, but craig mctavish was dumb.
it'll work for dubas, because dubas is smarter than everyone else and is trying something new (except when edm tried it and failed, but with less money tied up in 3 players).

Yup. He also really thought Matthews was 'generational'. Matthews can shoot the puck and has a lot of skill, but there are quite a few guys in the league like him and all of them make less money.

As long as they are having fun. Winning is secondary. Everyone needs to have fun and be validated. Also, they need piles of cash along with the fun... |

It was franking embarrassing.

No confirmation, but likely Freddie
Andersen took Wednesday morning off, suggesting he will start on back-to-back nights.
Andersen allowed five goals on 28 shots in the Maple Leafs' 6-1 loss in Philadelphia last night. Despite head coach Sheldon Keefe saying Michael Hutchinson would start Wednesday earlier in the week, it looks as if Andersen will be between the pipes again. Normally he's a top-end option but starting two nights in a row and facing a Colorado team that is getting healthy and has won three straight while scoring 16 goals (5.33 goals per game) makes him a low-end option tonight.

Definitely, his rookie season he was doing well at both ends of the ice.. I recall some saying he'll be the next Kopitar/Toews but with more offensive ability.
I wonder if the change was because of Babcock or did Matthews just stop caring? |

I stopped watching after the Avs scored the empty netter to make it 4-1. What the hell happened to make it 6? They just stop caring the last minute? Freddy let in 2 softies? |

Shore gone. Hope he does well with the Jets.
Honestly, Dubas is going to have to make a cap move and sooner than later.
I hate the idea that the naysayers are right about the back up position. |
