Sources tell me Dubas and Keefe really like golf - and they have planned this great teambuilding trip early April to reward the lads for their incredible hockey skills..

It means they didn't have the vets their to show these guys the way to be a professional night in and night out.

The money saved would have gone to such a veteran who they could then emulate.

- kaptaan

It is starting to be sort of apparent that hainsey and marleau were helping to guide this team.

They were probably the guys who served as a reality check to soften babcock's message.

These young guys have a lot of maturing to do. At least they will have a long summer to do some of it.

here is a wild idea

separate Matthews and nylander

and someone drive the puck to the FN net.

mic drop

I got a better one but it's a tough pill to swallow. Bench him!

Just finished watching.....

Marner, Kapanen and Kerfoot were good

Rielly, my god👎

- mr.sir

I wonder if rielly is resentful towards the younger guys / dubas.

Him and kadri took reasonable rfa deals. These younger guys only saw dollar signs and maxing out their deals.

Dubas ships out kadri and marleau; drains the vet leadership to make room for the big money deals. It was all about who was making more money than who.

Then barrie comes in and starts female doging about is pp time and wanting to get paid next year.

The team stops playing, the coach that made rielly into a 70 point player is fired and he is booted from pp1.

He is playing like he wants out / away from this team.

Leafs could easily miss the playoffs. Maybe these kids think they can just do it by will power anytime they want.

I think you are right or very close to it....ive thought about it myself, the contracts these guys got can cause serious jealousy and problems on a team...

but the biggest concern right now is matthews not producing or even playing like he can....thats a huge problem when you just got paid large...he got outplayed by eichel in the b2b and has just looked very blah all year.....i dont care how many goals he has or his on pace.... he is NOT playing like he gives a (frank) about winning...

- Aaron_85

Makes no sense. Then why play injured now?
A two month injury that the team hasnt taking the time to properly let heal, seems weird.

Maybe he just had a one off year last year. I mean hes never been great defensively

I actually thought the leafs played well. Colorado was sitting waiting for them and leafs played the night before. If it wasn’t for spezza and Riellys brutal and unlucky play on the powerplay I thought they played well enough to deserve atleast 1 point.

I think we are past ‘easily miss the playoffs’. Its now more like ‘very likely to miss the playoffs’. If this does happen who gets jettisoned?? Dubas stilll safe or does someone put at end to this aweful experiment we are watching?

Kind of. And yet we only scored 1 goal, Hyman our grinder with a grinder goal. How can this group be so impotent offensively? I think they need to stop being so cute all the time and learn that when it isn’t happening for you to take the PUCK TO THE FRIGGIN NET and ‘crash the net’. Score some garbage goals. Even on the PP, get out the lunch bucket and go for garbage...

If Babcock got the start of this season to see what would happen then Dubas likely does too.

ONE good thing came from the game though. Great Marner save on the empty-net chance late in the game. I think you may have found Hutchingson replacement as back-up to Anderson!!!

Nylander Matthews give and go...should have been 1 more pass

Hyman has a chance to drop it to Kerfoot, takes a easily blocked shot

Hyman tried a wrap around with KK standing wide open in front

Three good scoring chances we wasted

Oh well, played better....win the next couple.

Is there some kind of online stat site that records the number of times Leaf forwards are on a rush then ‘turn back’ along the wall? I swear Kap, Willie, and now Matthews must do this dozens of times every game. None of this ‘take the puck to the net’ garbage. Curl away, avoid any contact, and go for the ‘lap’ around the outside...

Really? How about Matthews rip a shot? You know Auston ‘60 goal scorer’ Matthews? (I am using the Phil Kessel goal calculator...)

No need for a site tracking that - only the Leafs does it...
