So small sample but...

Oct (3 away starts plus end of the Pittsburgh game) — Hart was 4.90 GAA .803 Sv%

In all October games he had a 3.32 GAA .864 Sv%

Nov (4 away starts) — Hart had a 3.03 GAA .879 Sv%

In all November games he had a 1.94 GAA .927 Sv%

Trending up.

Can you break those away games into blocks and show the progression over the season for me? So is he improving?
- NC Flyers Fan

His road play has been uneven, listed a few below. You can go to nhl.com if you want to see the game logs and full splits, link below. I expect a young goalie to struggle on the road, and i am not putting the road woes all on him, would just like to see a little more consistency. Loved his game last night, too bad that fluky one got past him.

Nov 19th @ FLA
SA 18 GA 4 Sv% .778 - got pulled

Nov 15th @ Ott - lost 2-1, offensive didn't help him here
SA 19 GA 2 Sv% .895

Nov 10th @ Bos - strong game
SA 28 GA 2 Sv% .929

Agreed. Hopefully they keep Laughton with Hayes and Farabee. That line has been really good. Andreoff seems like the obvious choice to be called up. They only have 22 on the roster right now.

The Giroux line was absurd last night. That line outshot the Leafs 10-0, outchanced the Leafs 13-0 and outscored the Leafs 2-0 in 9:06 of even strength time. Wowsers trousers!

agreed ditto. no breaky upy 3rd line. just recall misha for 4c

Even when it seemed like the Leafs had the upper hand in the first, none of their chances felt dangerous. If not for a fluky bounce, Hart likely has another shutout. I like how the Flyers got stronger as the game went on. Shut them down in the third and finished strong. All any of us can ask for.

The next mission. The Power Play. I’m not so sure the Power Play can be blamed on the players. The position of each player and the structure seems a little weak. I would go back to basics. Get Giroux, Voracek, Couturier and JvR out there together in their original format. It’s hard to replace Provorov with Ghost when, not only Provorov been better offensively than Ghost but probably our best overall Power Play player.

The physical skills are really evident. The skating and closing ability. Big and strong in puck battles. Quick and accurate breakout passes. Who knows what his upside will be. Just needs to be a touch more consistent. It seems his games are either really good or subpar. Just find middle ground.

still a kid. wait till he thickens out. just bc tall doesnt mean hands strong
folks, if all of the kids fill out and get stronger on puck in corners as they inevitably will our d corps can be one of top in nhl. even w ghost staying ghost.

Yeah, just looked it up. The sample size is too small...I think 7 away starts and the GAA should be noted.

The big road trip is after Christmas so there might be more sample by the halfway point.

- NC Flyers Fan

agreed the sample size might be too small at this point, and not putting the poor road play squarely on his shoulders...it's a team game. Was just an observation that his road play has been inconsistent, and maybe V has taken note of that and given him more play at home to help with his confidence, which he clearly has responded to. All that said assuming the road play was having any mental effect on him.

Phil Myers year to date:

15 games, 3 goals, 6 assists, 9 points, +12, 21 SOG

Kinda impressive.

I'm more impressed with Myers than Sanheim and that is NOT to say I don't like Sanheim as well

We probably win 3 to 5 more games if Myers starts the season with the Flyers.

I personally am a little disappointed in Sanheim so far this season. That might be because of the expectation that I had that was probably unfair in hindsight. It's not that I think he is playing poorly. After the year he had last year, I thought he would explode offensively this season at 5 on 5 play. Might have to do with adjusting to a new style of play.

I guess I see it more as a huge positive that Hart plays this well at home with good consistency so early in his career. I expect struggles, I just want to see slow steady trending in the right direction. And everyone has a bad game from time to time. Team too.

Didn’t know if you saw this...

I think he's been a guy who I haven't noticed much (aside from his consecutive games where he fell down). That is fine for a guy like Hagg, but you need to be noticing Sanheim more, especially on the offensive end of the game. So I don't think he's been bad, he just hasn't been as much of a factor as I'd hoped.

Agreed. It's a great problem to have. Team is playing well as a whole and a good bit of the players have another gear still.

I really like Farabee's game. Frost has been better than I thought he would be defensively.

I absolutely hate the breakout, and save me the everyone uses it. It is not a good idea to have every guy flat footed on the blueline and just have one guy coming with speed, we should have a couple of guys coming up the ice together so there's an option for a pass or a dump in where one guy is already moving.

You can tell Frost is older and a bit more seasoned. The variance between his highs and lows is a bit tighter than Farabee's.

PP1 is struggling to get the puck in the zone cleanly without Voracek. Eventually Frost should be good at doing that, but he's just a rookie.

The defenders are flat footed at the blueline too, that's what makes the slingshot so effective. One guy with speed can enter the zone w/ possession, pushing the PK'ers back, allowing the attacking team space to set up.

First of all, it's not always one player coming up with speed. Often there is a player moving parallel with the puck carrier across ice. Save you the everyone uses it? Why do you think that is? The reason why every team uses it is because executed properly, it is very difficult to defend.

Rubtsov is still out with a shoulder injury. The good news is that he is expected back before Christmas. The initial fear was it could have been a repeat of what happened last season.
- bmeltzer

Carchidi reported it was the same shoulder he hurt last season, but last year his right shoulder went into the boards, and this year it was the left one.
