It's because we've been damaged/scarred as fans of this team. Not sure how old you are but some of us have been through a LOT of "almosts" just to have the rug ripped out from under us. After a while, it creates a lot of pessimism. Human nature imo. It will take more than a month or two of promising looking play to soothe most people. I'm loving the ride right now but definitely can't forget the past so quickly. - fishbulb

That's the fear when playing a lot of tight games. One play or bad bounce and it can go the other way. - MJL
One “bad” goal a game from the goalie is all it would take. |

The physical skills are really evident. The skating and closing ability. Big and strong in puck battles. Quick and accurate breakout passes. Who knows what his upside will be. Just needs to be a touch more consistent. It seems his games are either really good or subpar. Just find middle ground.

The closing ability is the most impressive to me... Flyers haven't had a dman with an effective defensive area that large since Coburn.
Offensively, tip of the iceberg methinks. |

Ghost had a huge game last night. Dominated the puck and was all over the ice.
Looked like 2017 Ghost - kennygarcon
Huge for his confidence. To me he is a head case player like that. Less hesitation in his game last night. This is how he needs to play to be effective. My only concern is his history repeating itself again. How long does confident ghost stick around. Myers to me was the better player for the tandem
As for the roster moves. I love laughts on hayes wing and how the fourth line has been playing. If they recall a winger i would slot laughts in at 4th c until there is a fix. if they recall voroyb or bunnaman i am guessing they will be the 4th line center. I do not think this position is beneficial for vorobyov. (not sure he embraces the role. always seems to disappear.) the other option would involve breaking up other lines which i'm not sure i do, or playing 7 d men.
guessing shore passed through waivers...lol. |

I can't recall ever seeing the arena as empty as it was last night. But heck of a game to be at, especially that ending. Keep it up boys! |

It's ridiculous to play against players like Taveras, Reilly, Matthews and only allow 3 shot attempts in an entire game. - MJL
“Ridiculous” as in makes one smile until he looks silly.

Love the way Hart played last night, and his overall play on home ice. Need to see him play a little more consistent on the road.
Home - GAA 1.48 Sv% .944 - outstanding
Away - GAA 3.78 Sv% .849 - not so much - LittleBallofHate
Can you break those away games into blocks and show the progression over the season for me? So is he improving?

Honestly, I have been beating that drum since the end of camp. Sure he wasn't great in preseason, but once called up he's shown me enough to keep him in every game. He makes mistakes, but the ceiling on this guy is high IMO. - Hextall271
It’s high, definitely high.

He had a few games on the road where he got pulled which hurt those numbers, I know a couple were early on, I think his past 5 starts for the most part have been good. Florida was last time he got pulled, not sure when that was. |

He's only had a SV% above .900 and GAA under 2.00 at Vancouver and Boston. He also allowed 2 goals against Ottawa but had a SV% of .895. |

true.
Conversely, playing in tight games is also good experience for the stretch run and playoffs when historically the margins for games are even tighter. |

Even though they won 6-1 (3-1 before the game got out of hand), and even though they won in regulation, do we still have to be mad that they let Toronto tie the game when the Flyers entered the 3rd with a lead? |

Yeah, just looked it up. The sample size is too small...I think 7 away starts and the GAA should be noted.
The big road trip is after Christmas so there might be more sample by the halfway point.

Well, ideally they wouldn't give up anything in the 3rd period, but man, what a response after giving up that fluky tying goal. |

not at all, in fact, after they did allow the tying goal, coming right back down and going back up is so nice to see. Hayes said when the other teams scores (paraphrasing here) is that its not a big deal because they know they can come back. there's no panic, no knee jerk reactions. its extremely refreshing to see. been saying it for years the talent has been there, our coaching has just been atrocious. |

Agreed. Hopefully they keep Laughton with Hayes and Farabee. That line has been really good. Andreoff seems like the obvious choice to be called up. They only have 22 on the roster right now.
The Giroux line was absurd last night. That line outshot the Leafs 10-0, outchanced the Leafs 13-0 and outscored the Leafs 2-0 in 9:06 of even strength time. Wowsers trousers! - mickel25
Frost quietly had a good game, right place at right time, he actually slowed the game down when he had the puck, perfect support for G and TK. |

Could any of Pitlick, Vorobyov, Andreoff, or Bunnaman player center? If so, why not waive Stewart and recall one of them which would allow you to not have to use more LTIR?
That being said, since Patrick is already on LTIR, do they gain anything by not putting one of Raffl or Morin (if eligible) on LTIR? - jmatchett383
One item that bears noting, Stewart is coddling NoPat. Nolan is very much indebted to him as he has struggled with his ailment.
Nose/spiting could be an issue here.
It's not like this is an emergency and long term is a consideration. |
