People have been saying hes injured all year. Maybe last year was one off...or maybe hes just having a bad year.
Theres no reason to play him now if hes injured. - Fakepartofme

Fugg I hate having to come here only when the guys lose:
Reilly is clearly injured. No question. He doesn't have anywhere near the stride he had last year.
As much as this is a skill game this team is in fact soft as table butter. If they were all muscle and no speed it would be just as painful to watch, so I don't blame the GM, he took the best players available. He even got a little muscle in Muzzin.
Still, I dunno what's going on. I never expected a guy like Nylander to be a power forward, so I won't judge him, and I won't judge Tavares because I know he's here because he wants to be here, but there's something missing with this team.
I know you're all gonna call bullpoop on me for this but when the Leafs played STL in in St. Louis last year I liked how the team just seemed big, and it didn't seem like that was a detriment as they could still skate. This team has plenty of speed but again, soft as table butter.
Is there a real cultural problem here? WSH had to go through years of pain with the same core to make it all work. TB was the best in hockey until they failed to win in the playoffs. Funny game this stickpuck, so many things that can go wrong, I'm not sure what needs to happen to be fixed.
I want to say that injuries are a problem, but I can't do that knowing what the Bruins have done. I can't say it's lack of talent knowing what the Islanders have done.
Do these guys have no pride? The one thing I will say is that if it wasn't for the backup goalie situation; like, say we got half the points that were available with a backup in net this wouldn't be a such a big deal because the rest of the division is nothing special, but it's hard to pin down. - AngryWhiteMale
The common factor between the Bruins, Blues and Washington that I can see is experience in their core. They have all been good teams for some years now, with a lot of failures and ups and downs. The Bruins have even missed the playoffs during that time too. They've all been through roster changes and multiple coaching changes. It's a long haul. |

It must be very close cause the Leafs were first the other night. At any rate Philly got the better of them tonight. |

For a guy his age he was pretty solid. Couldn't ask much more, and I couldn't figure out what other people thought he alternative would be, or how it would be better than Ron |

Tired of you winey leaf fans asking yourselves "How can we loose to a mediocre team like the Flyers". Same poop I heard the last time the Flyers beat you. Here is the difference. One team has heart, the other has balls the size of gnat larvae. Maybe its your team that is mediocre. - Flybynight88

Tavares could have gone anywhere, he wants to be here. Matthews, I dunno man. Would it be better to just make Nylander a 2nd line centre and move Matthews and Kappy or Johnsson for a stud D and a backup or a winger with some size?

Matthews has scored more 5 on 5 goals than anyone in the league since his debut, and he's the youngest guy on the team. Trading him would be inadvisable. |

We look good for the 1st, but at times I’d rather a crappy pass over the blueline than a crappy pass back into our own zone, and we seem to be trying to possess the puck without moving their feet ( in our own zone ) after the 1st...everybody standing still in unison.
Thought we’d win that game after the 1st. |

I suggested a Nylander + Barrie (UFA) for Ellis + Smith (UFA) trade before.
Maybe Johnsson + Barrie + Liljegren for Ellis + 2020 2nd (NSH) |
