If I walk up to someone at work and trip them from behind...do I sit in a penalty box for 2 min?

Why don't you walk up to one of your coworkers and slap them on the back of the head, then let me know what happens

How about when Torres lit up Hossa? Abuse? Assault? How about at least a bit of context?

I can't wait to see the perp walks of old hockey and football coaches! And Bob Knight......holy smokes......

I discussed why I’ve been so vocal about #abuse in #hockey, how & why I changed & held myself accountable for past behaviour, why I want the sport to get honest, where the "line" is for behaviour & why change may need to come from outside

He says he's not sure why this has turned into an NHL thing when the biggest concern should be the minors in the junior and lower level leagues. Talks about where the "line" should be.

I've heard a story, Texas coach Darrell Royal wanted your scholarship back, if you said no he put you through the "meat grinder" in practice, then you gave it back before doing it more or again.

Wherever the line gets set, no retroactive perp walks, imo. If someone went over the 1998 "line" in 1998, crush him.

Yes - I forgot about Kempny - playing 2nd pair minutes for the Caps. The organization (including Q) was wrong on him.

And I may have missed one or two others - can’t think of any important ones.

Point is, to me - Q got more out of young players here than other coaches have gotten out of ex-Hawks there on balance and in total.

Three Cups under a hard cap with high turnover after each - says something about Q and Stan that they were able to re-tool after bad seasons in 2011 and 2012 into a second three-year run from 2013-15.

Not that either is the right person for the current situation, but you can’t take away from what they accomplished over seven seasons.

That’s a full line of players: TT - Danault - Schmaltz are a pretty great line when you look at it. Defensively with Kempny and Daley is better than KK and Gus. Also an immediate upgrade overall.

Also, Q’s success came from veterans and the maneuvers Bowman made under a hard cap. Bowman had to fix the Talon’s offer sheet screwup, can you imagine how the team would be had that not have happened?

I for one am glad Q is gone. You might see him having success in Florida right now, but when you break down his wins and losses over there right now, you’ll see he is struggling against the same teams he was here. He’s an old coach with old ideas and the NHL is changing ... evolving. Q on a team with so many young players is a recipe for disaster. By next season we’ll see how many are still there.

What a mind boggling steamy pile. THANK GOD Bowman saved the day from the incompetent Tallon and the loser Coach. Bowman the modern day miracle worker (current times not applicable of course).

There are conflicting reports on who actually is responsible for that offer sheet screw up and we may never know the truth. And nice of you to take away Q's role as head coach and lay responsibility for all that success on Bowman. Bowman was gifted the best team in the NHL, period. Yes he got some good support players to help, but to ignore the role of Smith, Tallon and yes even Q in building the Hawks is just blind.

Almost as sickening as those who think Q had nothing to do with winning 3 cups in CHI, 4 as a coach, 2nd most wins in NHL history, one of the most liked and respected coach by players around the league...but not by message board warriors

A good line, not a great one - wish they were here - but if that’s the only line we lost over the 8-10 years in question....

Q must have done a pretty good job with young skaters - he was able to run four lines and three pairings over the Cup runs. Didn’t happen by accident or random actions. He played very well with young players, not just vets.

Glad he’s gone? Yeah, he wasn’t the right guy for the rebuild - but we need to stop pretending he wasn’t a terrific coach - bad coaches don’t win three Cups and have the success he had here for 8 years.

Hello Wolfie. If we say that Bowman was "gifted the best team in the NHL", I think it is fair to say the same about Q since they each came aboard near the same time. Both contributed mightily to something we're not likely to see again - I am grateful for both of them.

It was Q who kept sending Montador out there to get into fights I'd like to understand how Carbomb Monty's buddy rationalizes that?
- rpeters01

Q didn't even seem to want his guys to clear their own crease. Not a chance he sent Montador out to fight.

I don’t really mind losing Schmaltz, it’s yet to be determined who won that trade though it’s certainly looking better this season for the Yotes than it did last season.

But losing Panarin so soon right as he was entering his prime as a star in this league and after the chemistry he and Kane developed....and only having Saad to show for it...that’s inexcusable.

Imagine if instead of Saad and Seabrook(if he wasn’t given such a ridiculous contract he could have been moved by now) we had Panarin and Kempny instead. And still had TT and Danault instead of Shaw and Anisimov/Zach Smith.

Also believe we should have gotten better value back for Sharp and Hammer.

Some extra $$ should also be there from what was given to 19 and 88. 10.5 each at that time was a slight overpayment. 9-9.25 per would have been ideal, and without knowing the Cap increase for certain it was silly to give them THAT much.

Q isn’t to blame for the mess his team became, he was an outstanding coach. It was our front office that let us down with all those stupid decisions.

Not absolving Stan AT ALL, but Kempny was not good playing for Q. He was consistently lost in his own end and had the same pinching problems as Gus. This isn't because Q was bad with young players, but just a fact that he didn't work well within the system being played. I doubt that he would be much better under Colliton.

I have two problems with this argument (which admittedly aren't all that strong). 1st, We had Panarin for two years and we got flushed in the first round of the playoffs. That's not necessarily an indictment of him, but just having Panarin on this team does not solve the underlying issues.

2nd, Q is partially to blame for this mess. As good of a coach as he is, the team was not performing as well as was needed under him the last two years he was coach.

There is blame to go to the FO, coach and players in understanding how we got to this place.

I think the last 2 years he was coach the talent really started to slip. The core aged and regressed(excluding Kane), and several good players were traded away for inferior value.

The roster he and now JC were handed these last few seasons is a garbage roster. No other way to put it. Void of skill and speed. Worst blue line in the entire league.
