i would move Ghost and some other stuff for Gaudreau. but dont see why CGY would want Ghost. they have a nice collection of Dmen with some young guys really stepping up. they need a top 6 right winger. we need another center.

i dont see a fit beyond that he's a good player from the Philly area.

- Mordecai

Calgary is in the driver seat if they wanna move Gaudreau. I can see teams being interested in Ghost but Gaudreau is a stud, even if he has one off year. Gaudreau is a legit 30 goal plus player coming off a 99 point season.

NC Flyers Fan, I love you. I think it’s safe that you and I have never experienced a battle to the death against one another?

This team is by no means by the stretch of the imagination as special as the 2010 team. There is no way. Our stars aren’t even showing up. 2010 was only missing goaltending and a third pair defense.

- SuperSchennBros

While I agree it is not a fair comparison, make that comparison when the season is over

yeee he's a really good player. just seems more of a luxury that we cant afford right now. i'd rather not gut the depth of our young players on the whim that Gaudreau solves all of our woes.

I’m saying the 2010 team was special because they were special. The closest team I recent Flyers history that I thought was special was 2012 with Jagr, Simmonds, Voracek, Schenn and Couturier in their first seasons here.
- SuperSchennBros

If that team doesn’t make the playoffs, you wouldn’t be saying the team was special.

It really wasn't a good team that year. Lack of depth across the board. Questionable goaltending. Super inconsistent.

Now, if they had kept all the youngsters together (Carts, Richie, G, Bob, Hartsy, Lupul, Upshall, JVR, Coburn) and not traded so many picks, it might have become something special. Richie said as much when he was on the Barstool podcast.

I think there is zero reason for the Flyers to be an 8th place team, squeezing in the last day. That’s unacceptable to make.

Unless Couturier is having a 40 goal, 90 point season, he shouldn’t be out producing G and Jake.

- SuperSchennBros

I dont get it.
Get in 8th and win a series or get in first and lose in the first round.
The Flyers havent made the playoffs in how long and how much longer has it been since they won a round?

If they do like they did in 2010 and get in on a shoot out in OT of the last game but go on to win a series then it's a successful year.

If they do like the Lightning did last year, win everything and get lose in the first round then the year has been a failure. [/img]

I don't know what to tell some of you. Getting blown out 7-1 by Pitt and give up 3-0 lead in the third to the islanders, both of which are division rivals should look like a black eye to you. Maybe you're proud of beating up on the last place Wings and the slowly falling Habs but you can't beat up bad teams and get beat bad by good teams and expect to sit at the adult's table.

What do you think Vigneault is telling his Troops? Your naive take or mine?

- SuperSchennBros

1) Every team has a few ugly losses every season. You can't cherry-pick a game or two.

2) No excuse for 3rd pd against Isles. Gotta dig deep and close it out. However, Flyers were playing The Flyers will be playing for the third time in four nights. It was also Flyers' seventh game in 12 nights. Islanders were in a light portion of their schedule that saw them play just twice between Nov. 10 to 18. Those thing are absolutely factors. Sometimes it's the other way around.

3) Last I checked, the Flyers earned wins in 10 of 16 games in Nov and at least a point in 14 of them. Along the way, they best Carolina (not a good team ?) twice in regulation, won by SO in Toronto after an 11-rd shootout one week earlier,;won in Boston, took Caps to a SO, dominated Vancouver. Doesn't fit a "beat bad" by good teams narrative.

4) I don't have to conjecture what Vigneault told his team. He told them Nov was a hell of a good month, take a day to savor it, and then get back to work toward making December a good month, too.

How can you speak in absolutes , unless you are a Sith lord, when this years season is 25% over?

Keep in mind that Boucher and Leighton were our goaltenders .

You recently suggested that the Flyers trade Farabee and Myers for Drouin. I don't think I need to respond to your rhetoric above.

So Mr. 87 Years Hockey Experience (I mean Joe Grief) and some Bruins dude claiming that Johnny Hockey has a substance problem , anyone know if that has any validity as much as we can know those things outside of the locker room .

Peter Laviolette took over in early November. So we were learning a system or even two systems if you consider John Stevens during training camp.

Chris Pronger and Kimmo Timonen were two Bonafide number one defensemen.

Briere, Gagne, Richards, Carter, Hartnell were all established stars and playing to their potential. Add Giroux who stepped in as his first opportunity and played like a vet.

I want you compare frame for frame how you honestly believe this team compares to 2010.

That's a hint to the path that the team is on. Unless things go sideways, Fletcher should just sit back and let it ride. Let the youth and prospects make you look like a really good GM.

I know what Vigneault told his team. He stated publicly on the last Flyers broadcast.

We relied to heavily on our goaltending and our games were too close. We need to close our games.

I’m not having this conversation if you honestly believe Boston offered up their very best.

Im missing how you can compare a team that completed a full season to a team that has played 27 games.

I don't need to look any farther then that difference.

The 2010 was built to win it all the moment they traded for Chris Pronger. That was the expectation. At least that team could hide behind Gagne and Carter breaking their foot, firing Stevens and bad goaltending. This team can’t.
