Vigneault has brought a steady presence behind the bench, Flyers haven't had that since Laviolette. Coaching matters in the NHL.
Hockey is fun to watch again. All the talk about if the Flyers are contenders or not. Hell just make the playoffs and see what happens.

The really positive thing is the team is winning, and their best players aren't playing great.

what do you do if you are the GM? you have jake clode and couturier in their primes or tall end of it. Do you try to make a run around these guys the next 2 years? Do you just let it play out and add pieces here and there? Do you look to move a jake and or jvf?

in 2 years when #14 want a long term huge contract will be a very tough decision to make.

agree with the coach part 100%. the entire staff garners respect

Everyone is freaking out about how the games are close. Guess what games are close? Playoff games. I think it's good the team is learning how to win the close games. Last years team always lost the close ones. This year they are figuring out how to win them

Sure there are reasons for concerns. But to dismiss this month as nearly "good" when they tied a record for most points in a month and lead the league in points this month is looking through some sort of red tinted glasses. What more could you ask for?

You try to convince Seattle to take Jake or JvR, probably with a pick attached

I swear to god some fans arent happy unless every game is a blowout regulation win. For (frank)s sake let us enjoy one of the best months in flyers history.

thats a ways off though. Rather try to move one even if you have to eat a little salary. JVR easier to move imo.

Good teams don't leave points on the table... they win all 82 games in regulation.

Agreed...That 62 win season by Tampa, I’m sure beats anything they did in the playoffs j/k. This is all about building towards the end of the season, folks. Just get in, enjoy the ride and see what happens.

Absolutely!

I’ve been making the point for the better half of three or four weeks, the games are too close. The Flyers are letting teams back into games, which leaves us winning in overtime or losing in overtime. Our coach came out a couple days ago and agreed. Now, because I’m saying it, it’s something to brush off. We’re winning, everything is perfect in Flyerland.

The reality is, we had a good November. Not great but good. This is now but when July has rolled around, this November is a distant memory and the season didn’t go the way we wanted by getting embarrassed in the first round of the playoffs, you guys are gonna look for someone to blame. Giroux, Voracek, Hayes, JvR and Ghost didn’t preform to standards. Everything is awesome right now but the conversation above if some young players don’t pick their play up is Inevitable.

We do it every year, how does nobody see a trend?

The reality of it is they had the most points in the league in November that makes it great and that line is just as logical or valid as your opposing view.

They aren't flawless, like every team.
They leave points out there, like every team.
Some of their players aren't performing, like every team.
Games are too close, like every team.
Some young players have hit walls, like every team.

Unlike every team they had the best month in the league. I'm going to enjoy that victory today and focus on the next evolution with the start of the next game.

Yes of course I think that but it's also a good sign that they haven't been at the top of their game and the team is still 6th in points percentage in the league

Also, Jake and Hayes have been heating up lately

Well then if the answer is yes of course. That makes concern about top offensive players not scoring as well as expected a legitimate concern and not just something that teams that make the playoffs don't care about.

I would rather we have 6 players that score 60 pts than 2 that hit 80 and a few with 50. Balanced scoring brings more success in general than a few top scoring guys. I'm not concerned with the point totals because we're winning. I dont care how they win. I've seen the years where G scores 100 and we do nothing and I dont care about it anymore

I do agree that being comfortable in close games is good for a team. However, how tight the games are is a measuring stick for the team. Looking at playoff games and how tight they tend to be is not a good way at looking at the situation now. Now, in the regular season, the best teams tend to get a lead and either shut the opposition down or build on the lead. Rather than just hanging on or having to go to shootouts or OT.

Still not the right way of looking at it. There is no way around it. If Giroux scores 80 points versus 60 points, the Flyers are a better team. They have the supplemental scoring. The Flyers are one of the better defensive teams in the league. They're middle of the pack in scoring. If and when their top players score consistently, the Flyers will be a better team.
