Hard to justify watching this team if Hynes is the coach next game. - Pomegrant
With you 100%...not watching another game until Hynes is gone...Why do I need to keep getting upset when Shero could give a damn! |

Rangers should just keep taking penalties - devils2929
They should just play their AHL team next time. Not worth risking anyone getting hurt in such an easy game. |

If John Hynes is not fired within the next 4 hours.......... |

Luckily I was coaching a PeeWee game and missed this train wreck. How embarrassing.
I don’t get how we can just continue to take it in the dumper and not make a change. How is this supposed to get better? Magic?
Trade Hall. Won’t make us better but nobody in their right mind signs here. |

Just watched the highlights.
Players look disgusted.
If Hynes was actually a good NHL COACH (meaning legit established guy with a solid track record)he should be fired at this point. No idea how a guy who’s achieved so little can hold on.
I’m not saying this team is perfect but I believe this Roster is not this bad.
It’s (frank)ing embarrassing. |

just going back to Cordell's blog here and how annoying it is to base EVERYTHING on possession stats....
to predict this game was going to the "tonic" for the Devils offensive struggles by looking at the ENTIRE season corsi stats for the Rangers blueline was just idiotic
the Rangers are playing a million times better all around in November than they were in October, it's just not even remotely same team anymore, but Cordell is basing his opinion on cumulative stats that look so bad because of how Rangers played in October.
The Devils deserved to get their ass kicked just for this blog. |

so it's your opinion that on December 1st, corsi stats from October are still relevant? |

It's all about sample size. Recent stats deserve a seat at the table, but they aren't very resistant to outliers in the form of streaks or slumps.
For example, stats for the month of November would tell you the Islanders are the perfect team, but we know that probably isn't true. October balances that out. |

Rangers have the youngest team in the entire league. Their advanced stats are completely irrelevant from October. Zero. They do not matter. |

Any unusually bad stretch will be absorbed as the sample size increases. On the other hand, why should the cutoff be October? Why not November? Why not December 15th? It's arbitrary. Yes, young players get significantly better as they get used to the league, but the most misleading stats are made when someone picks and chooses where they come from. |

He usually responds in the first few hours after he posts if at all. I don't blame him for not considering hockeybuzz a top priority when he works for actual hockey teams lol |

If you had any sort of decent argument maybe he would. But acting like statistics can predict when the Devils are going to play like ass is amazingly stupid. |

When he’s taken to task, maybe he will. Right now there’s just one person who waited until after the game to point out that he should ignore half the data from the season because they’re playing well at the moment. I don’t know what you’d expect him to say beyond, “that’s not how math works.” |

Wonder what kind of offers the stars are getting on Honka ? Would Mueller and a pick get it done ? Would he be worth targeting or has his draft stock all but dried up? |

Hughes out again tomorrow. My gut reaction is that’s a good thing. Less likely to get (more) injured if he doesn’t play, and I’m not sure how playing with these guys under this coach right now would help him develop as a player at all anyway. |

Hoping Hall gets moved sooner then later. I would hate to wait till the very last minute when you know its going to happen.
That doesnt mean I think they should take the first offer. i am just hoping the right offer comes a lot sooner then later.
Also not interested in any tweener goalies being the main piece. So many fans are offering these packages with goalies as proven as Blackwood and saying that fixes youre goalie problem... To me its gotta be a few 1st round picks or a blue chip prospect. At least that way you dont shut the door completely on getting a top piece back unlike when you move him for 3 players non of which will play in the top6 or 4 around the ages of 23 to 25 as those guys have likely established their ceilings.
I also think if you want to maximise the Hall trade you try not to bring in pieces that are going to stop a free fall. If we move Hall imo it should be for futures so that it potentially ups the worth of our own first along wih whatever we get in the trade.
I would hate to move Hall for a goalie thay wasnt a star and have him come in and keep us around 18 to 20th in the standings if we move Hall I would hope it signals us throwing our hats back into the lotterry. |
