Hi guys .. miss me ?

thoughts on EK's E4 Ryan Miller to the Leafs ?

I don't think he is the answer although, admittedly, we haven't seen much of his play the last few years.

Seem like I am always crapping on Matthews?

You might want to consider that I do it during games when he makes specific, stupid, lazy plays.

If that seems like a lot to you, you might want to consider what that means about his play.

I am far from the only person who has noted the laziness.

Do you think it is laziness or perhaps tentative play lacking confidence? I'm not a shrink but you have a goalie that has started 6 games and the Leafs have lost all 6, maybe that has something to do with how Matthews and the rest of the team plays in front of him?

Tuesday vs philly
Wednesday vs Colorado

2 good teams. We have to be able to put in a competent back up goalie right? Right??

matthews has to know better than a dipsy doodle backhand pass in front of his net....that probably cost us the game....

but nylander with 2 breakaways and 0 goals is equally annoying, along with his typical weak lazy play when he doesnt have the puck.... he is 100% trade bait

Johnsson on Matthews line isn't optimal. All three are not very good in there own end. So its either, score a bunch or allow alot for that line. Put Hyman back on that line like two years ago. Johnsson can either move down or Imo become trade bait for upgrades in other areas.

Agreed, I think he should be part of a package for a backup goalie. Maybe try to acquire a winger in the process. I think our best bet is to try and get Casey DeSmith. He's played 14 and 36 games over the past 2 seasons and has decent numbers. Pittsburgh plays similar to the leafs and don't have the best defense. Maybe try and steal one of their wingers in the process, don't know which (I'm sure Dubas would love to get McCann).

“I have no confidence in my goalie, let me pass a meatball up the middle right onto the tape of opposing player in the slot in a 1 goal game”

Doesn’t seem like a confidence thing to me

His last outing at Tampa was a bust. Other than that he's been rock solid for us ... Professional, dependable, steady and excellent in shootouts.

Leafs won’t be trading nylander for a backup and lesser winger...

It’s more likely a timashov and pick, or petan and pick. It’s backup goalie not a starter. Goalies don’t typically go for that big of a price tag.

I like Nylander, which I know lots of people on here don't. I think it'll be really hard to replace his skill level on this team. I think we'll regret any trade regarding Nylander. Johnsson is easily replaceable and would be an upgrade for most teams.

nylanders play away from the puck is the problem..... he also has no finish around the net , whiffs it over the net constantly.... he is the opposite of pastrnak for more money

It was a horrible play and led to a goal. The game-changing play for me was when Hutchinson passed a puck directly into Kapanen's skates at the blueline and it led to a goal. Hutchinson does not handle the puck well, when he leaves his net to handle the puck, bad things have happened this year. Does managment wait until he is 0 wins in 10 starts before a move is made?

Not straight up. Plus, we have guys that can replace what Johnsson does. I wouldn't trade Nylander though.

There was a lot of bad punches by the leafs last night. It will be a learning curve with Keefe wanting to activate the defenseman. They will score a lot but they are going to give up a ton of odd man rushes. Need the goalie to be able to stop a lot of them.

I guess some people just have an irrational dislike for a specific player. Aetherial with Matthews, Aardvark, Carlito, Mr Sir and Skalapy with Nylander as examples.

% of cap when pasta signed is 8.89 and Nylanders is 8.76. can't just look at the hard numbers. Cap goes up. Pasta is unreal though. Hopefully Nylander can work on his defensive awareness in the individual skills portion during leafs practice.
