I expect Wedin to play but not sure if McCoshem gets in the game. I think he was just called up as insurance and for Colliton to get a good look at the new guy up close.

If it's Koekkoek that goes tonight in Keith's place what does everyone think for the d pairings?

IMHO, after about Game 2, I thought Keith was playing lights out, so this s a HUGE setback.

So you say that Keith, Maatt, de Haan and Murphy are 2nd pair at best. Let's say that is so. Seabs to me is 3rd pair and I agree that Gus and KK can go. Granted no true #1's. But the worst D Corp in the league. Without doing the research there are probably some bottom dwellers without true #1's and without 4 2nd pair types.

Ours is the worst hands down

Not only do we not have a #1...we don’t have a #2 either. The top 5 defenseman on the Hurricanes, Lightning, and Blues would all be our best defenseman.

The only defenseman we have that can skate is our worst defenseman. And when your the worst defenseman on the team that has the worst Dcore in the league that’s really saying something.

Kreider is an unrestricted FA at end of year, we are a bubble team, we should not add to this team unless we get back young and controlled players, or young with term and low salary. However getting Kreider for Smith and Gus relieves $4.7M in cap space for 2020, and makes us better this year, but no way Rags make that trade, as they would get less talent back, as well as $3.5M in cap hit for 2020.

Point made about being a bubble team and cost controlled players. We should be basking in the glory of having some really nice prospects at many levels. By saying at many levels, I am.strategizing how we have a bushel full prospects whom slot as top, mid level and bottom lines/bottom dman pairs

A very big IF we offer for Messier I would not go with more than a #1 2020 + one top prospect not named Mitchell, Boqvist and Entwhistle (who are untouchable). We need what particular value those prospects would bring to our line up.

There remains a competitive offer for Hall. It is the headline spotlight McDonough special. That trade and injecton of some rookies - whom if they play well - puts us in the playoffs. In the playoff race at a minimum.

Of course we need to then move salaries out if Saad, Crawford and maybe more tinkering. Gus too is gone but his new contract wouldn't be too high for another team given his circus - like performance this season.

I know that another bold move would be to trade either Strome or DeBrincat. But timing is a problem since if either of them is dealt, you never want to move them when they are (had by season end) a poor showing this year.

Just to make the playoffs we need to be tougher and forwards must be more willing to position themselves correctly on break outs + fore check effort must improve. Heck bring up Hagel Entwhistle and Kurasaev and R Johnson soon to follow. Barrett is a keeper too - improve his skating - then Strome can good

Toews is a third line player. If Hall I want him with new mindset of kids with Kane. I would suspect Seabrook might have one more year left either as bottom pair or depth (or both roles). Carlsson with his skating compete and Mitchell start here next season. Boqvist needs another half season minimum. Kyrs eventually could be a sneaky great third pair value. He is a kid who will do what it takes to be successful. He carries the mail and has a bomb of a shot as a third pair. Probably needs two years AHL

Dach will be improved too. Have to think Slavin eventually gives us as much or more than Saad in a comparison

That really is what sticks out watching game after game. When we celebrate Dehaan as a big deal, we are in trouble. God bless them all and their effort.

Seabrook is at the top of the circle when opponents enter the blue line. Seldom do we win puck races/battles.

Watch Carolina's defense, or Dallas, St. Louis, Colorado, there are more than 2 guys in each group that can chase down a puck and skate it out.

Michigan has won 3 times since 2000 against OSU. With a healthy Fields, Dobbins, and Chase Young the only team that can beat Ohio State this year is the Buckeyes. If they don’t turn the ball over they are tough to beat. OSU is +450 in points scored:against margin this year through 12 games.
