Not that it should make any difference, but he was in the US when it happened... - NorthNuck
It shouldn't I agree but it's the US we are talking about. |

And why aren't there more black players in the league?
“He walked in before a morning pre-game skate and said ‘Hey Akim, I’m sick of you playing that n----- s---,’ ” Aliu told TSN, with Peters, who was then the Ice Hogs head coach, referring to Aliu’s selection of hip-hop music. “He said ‘I’m sick of hearing this n-----s f------ other n-----s in the ass stuff.’ |

Deal with it then. I wonder if peters was coaching in the US this wouldn't even come out. Don't get me wrong on the issue, racial slurs against anyone should not be tolerated anywhere, as a white guy I have been on the recieving end many times for no particular reason. - Bettmanhatesus
The players he was dealing with were in the AHL, when your livelihood is on the line then sometimes you swallow your tongue. Aliu already had a bad rep, he didn’t want more baggage associated with his name.
If he tried that poop with established NHL’ers like Simmonds or Subban, they’d call his ass his out in the media within the hour.
Peters is either an idiot or a racist. All he should’ve done is ban all music with profanity from the locker room if it bothered him that much but instead he dropped some N bombs. |

I wonder about the timing of all this with Akim Aliu? Playing into the Babcock firing? Players pushing back against old school hockey coaches. You'd have to think there's some other coaches who are nervous right now. - VanHockeyGuy

I've given up on that dream unless Green goes on anti-Swede or anti-long hair rant. |

He's just happy his brain doesn't look more like a composted peach than it did before his call up. |

Probably.
I'd rather see Goldy in the lineup than LE, at least Goldy could be useful on the 2nd PP unit. LE is a waste, he just floats around for his 6-8 minutes. |

Supporting a team that cares more about hugging and post game showers than playing physical for the last ten years will do that to a man. Bath salts or not, it’s (frank)ing draining being a beta supporter |

1) Never wish anything bad to the person but you get what you deserve Bill. After years making it to the NHL had experience with the worst coach ever by far.Kicking me and punching other player to the head during the game...
2) then pretending like nothing happened...couldnt believe my eyes what can happen in the best league.. happy that i dont have to go thrue that stuff on daily basics anymore.

I feel ya. Some people thought it was the Sedins holding the team back from playing with balls, I bought into it somewhat, but now I've realized that it wasn't on them alone.
Roussel and Ferland joining the team in during the next couple of weeks will help though |

Well it is a culture that was created by the Swedish country club was it not? It will be a good day when edler and Tanev are also gone. Bo needs to lead by example. Time for him take charge |

Tanev has more balls than most on this team. I have never seen him afraid to go into the corners against big dudes or block an Ovie one timer. He'll at least shove a dude in a scrum while Edler tries to find someone to hug. There's a reason why Torts loved Tanev but hated Edler.
I agree with Edler being part of the problem, but that's the easy excuse to make..
I've brought this up a lot over the past couple of years, but I read(or maybe watched) an interview with Cam Neely a couple of years ago. It was a short one, but basically he talked about how the Bruins establish their culture from the minute a player is brought into their organization...AHL or NHL, and even development camp.
You have to buy into their pack mentality and have an "us against the world" mindset where your teammates are all brothers and the enemy is the rest of the league, doesn't matter if you're on their farm team or the big club. I think teams like the Caps and Blues operate the same way. The Kings did under Sutter as well. With that type of culture, everyone suddenly plays with bigger balls.
That's why I can't blame Edler, I blame the organization. |
