Maybe not the best comparison in light of recent events. Plus what have they gotten out of all their great players except consecutive first round exits and cap hell for the foreseeable future.

Isn’t that what yourself and 90% of the rest of these boards were begging for last year ?

Meanwhile I was being a “crappy fan” and rooting for us to get our hopeful 2nd line Center for the next 10 years ?

Absolutely.

Gotta be in it to win it, can't perpetually churn high picks.

Ask the Oilers, it's been 14 years for them, and maybe they're finally good, but it remains to be seen.

Cernak was better all around last year. This year, he shaved his head and turned into a goon. He's downright scary sometimes (that crazy look in his eyes).

Did it look intentional?

- GalacticStone

Yes to it being intentional, unless anyone can explain what he was trying to accomplish with this 'play'.

It rots for the Sabres, that’s for sure.

And folks often say, “nobody wants to see that”. But it sure happens quite a bit for something no one wants to see. I think more people want to see this than would care to admit.

- PrinceChill

Including the league, hence the lack of true, punitive, substantive suspensions. Going for the old time hockey, wrestling demographic.

Bill's are going to be in trouble against the Ravens if Baltimare keeps playing like this.
- IonSabres

Can't wait for that game. I'd love to see them kick Jackson's ass.

FiveThiryEight? had a good piece on him. The only team to shut him down was the Chargers in the playoffs last year, and they did it by using 7 DBs on almost every snap. Granted they did it out of necessity because of injuries I think, but it worked like a charm.

I’ll never get why people who seem genuinely smart like Krueger, seem to like the worst players imaginable

Is it a “we’re only strong as our weakest link” bs?

How does McCabe last so long? How does Sobotka play top 6?

How is Ristolainen again the #1 defensemen?

I just don’t understand

- sbroads24

My favorite part of the game through 2 periods was watching Miller waiting for a pass from Ristolainen, only to have Ristolainen skate with the puck toward him and then hammer it off the boards. Miller had to be wondering what the hell was going on. I'm done watching Ristolainen be constantly clueless and devoid of any hockey sense.

A friend of mine is a long time coach. His strategy is send with aggression in every option play and attack Jackson as the focus. Hit him in every single option play, even if it means missing the hand off to the back (leave that for your second level guys). Essentially, make Jackson limp.

Bogosian didn’t touch a soul. Ristolainen either.

What good is their size again?

They just skate around giving up goals

- sbroads24

Risto perfectly broke up a 2 on 1,
and Montour literally just glided backwards & did nothing on the 2nd SH goal
And Risto is usually a pretty physical player

PS.
It appears that special teams do matter
Just sayin

Mojo will help if he comes back firing. They still need more offensively beyond that. Let's see if Botterill is up to the task of acquiring the much needed forward help. I think he has a fire lit under his ass

Report after report after report about Botts trying “very hard” to make a deal for a forward or 2,
and u still won’t stfu about it
Good grief dude

I am finding it very difficult to be a Sabres fan right now. I have not ? Botts for what is going on for his tenure because he had to build from bottom to top. I am ? my fan hood because of these players that just don't care. This is not a Buffalo team, they showed that yet again last night. You don't always have to punch people in the face, but sometimes you do have to send a message. And the only message this team sends is we wear skirts and you can bend us over freely.

NHL head office has been in contact with the Calgary Flames over allegations directed at head coach Bill Peters. Further discussions expected today.

I'm all for reports, or I used to be, but it's time to pull the trigger.

We are going to have to overpay because it's evident that this team needs a shake up.

At least we have ping pong content, where the 4 guys had some emotion.

Hutts especially.

He hated losing there, but doesn't seem to translate to the team on the ice.

They need to figure it out.

Yup. That was head-hunting.

WTF Cernak? Seriously?

Look, I understand retaliation in this case. Just please don't go after Stamkos or Hedman. Go after the goon who did it.

The Kuch hit in the Sweden game (to my eyes) was not nearly as blatant as this one. Cernak had his arm up high and led with the elbow. One could argue some nuances on the Kuch hit (I know everyone here will disagree), but I can't defend this Cernak hit. I completely understand if somebody runs the poop out of him next time these two teams meet.

Sorry, that logic is wrong. Dahlin is a star for the Sabres and was headhunted.
To stop it, you don't go after the thug, you go after their star, and do so twice as hard.
Or go after Point AND Kucherov. Escalate...two eyes for one tooth
But, the Sabres won't, so you don't hff have to worry.

If anyone on the Sabres had any backbone, Kucherov would have a dislocated jaw, missing 4 teeth and lost alot of blood.

it's a soft team that accepts losing

nothing is going to change as long as this is the core, and the man behind the bench

Good luck having 7 DBs trying to stop their running game.
Harbaugh should be Coach of the Year for how they rewrote the playbook around Jackson.
